Hell Pie is an action-adventure game with a gruesome sense of humor. The 3D platformer game lets people play as Nate, the Demon of Bad Taste. Players control Nate and explore the world of Hell Pie in a quest to find ingredients for Satan’s birthday pie. On his journey, Nate can use his angelic companion, Nugget, to smash enemies and swing around to reach new destinations.
Developed by Sluggerfly, Hell Pie offers hours of hilarious platforming gameplay coupled with solving puzzles and collecting obscene objects. These items that need to be collected are not for the faint-hearted, and require a tough skin along with formidable skills.
10 The Uncomfortably Alluring Chef
Players can find Chef inside the Kitchen in Hell Pie. Chef is a humongous beast who is red from head to toe and has two horns. As the Canteen Wizard, it is Chef’s duty to whip up a nasty birthday pie for Satan.
This smooth talker has a soft and melodious voice that can grip players from the get-go. Chef is the first person in the game to remind Nate of Nugget. Players can also collect the Ingredient List from Chef in the Kitchen.
9 The Gross Grey Egg
The Grey Egg is a slimy ingredient that can be collected in Sashimi Bay. It is one of the earliest ingredients that Nate can get his hands on. The coveted Grey Egg is located at a height and requires Nate to jump across several buildings and platforms to reach.
Apart from fighting monsters along their path to the Grey Egg, players must carry a barrel bomb to the top of the building in Sashimi Bay. Be careful not to drop the barrel bomb on any enemies, as it will send Nate back down to pick up barrel bombs. The Grey Egg is placed inside a cage and is terribly gross to look at.
8 The Tampon
The Tampon is easily the sickest thing players can discover in the game. It is located underneath Sashimi Bay in The Sewers, and is guarded by numerous creatures that dwell beneath the beautiful city.
Many people can easily mistake the Tampon for a popsicle at first sight. Don’t be deceived by the visual, as the ingredient list clearly mentions a Tampon that can be used to make Satan’s birthday pie. Players can discern that it is probably a used tampon, which makes it all the more disgusting.
7 Squabble
Squabble is a character in Hell Pie who can be found in the stage Inside Out. He is seen standing on a boat inside a living, breathing whale. Squabble is a gruesome creature that likes to spend his time chopping away at other monsters roaming about in Hell Pie.
After meeting Nate, Squabble expresses his disbelief at seeing a living entity treading inside the whale. Squabble has been trapped inside the whale himself for a few months and could use Nate’s help to escape the mammal. The warts that are growing off of his skin can seem awful in the 3D platformer game.
6 Getting To The Rotten Tentacle
The Rotten Tentacle is a severed limb of an octopus that can be found in Sashimi Bay. It can be hard to get to the Rotten Tentacle, as it is located inside a whale. Players can take control of a cannon inside the whale to shoot yellow clouds of pus that are blocking Nate’s path.
Nate has to use Nugget to destroy mutilated creatures that are out to get him before making his way to the Rotten Tentacle. Monsters with only torsos will crawl their way toward Nate right before he obtains the putrid ingredient. Players can use the Sprint Horns to dash through various platforms to reach the Rotten Tentacle.
5 Sacrificing Sheep At Horn Shrines
Horn Shrines are altars that are located throughout Hell Pie. Players can approach the altar and sacrifice sheep to gain a new set of horns to fuel their journey ahead. The first set of horns that can be unlocked are the Sprint Horns that can be obtained at the beginning of Sashimi Bay.
Nate has to offer one sheep at the Shrine of Zlorgmul to get the Sprint Horns. The offering displays a grotesque clip that involves tearing off the horn of a scared little sheep in front of the altar and placing it in the bowl to gain the new ability. This animation doesn't hold back in its gore.
4 Obtaining The Critic Heart
The heart of a critic can be cruel, to say the least. It’s no wonder that a Critic Heart has made it to the list of ingredients that are essential for making the birthday pie for Satan. The Critic Heart belongs to Jacques Huseau, a renowned food critic who can be seen enjoying a delicious meal at the restaurant Mange Ailleurs.
Jacques Huseau is a skinny man with a long mustache. He expresses his concern to Nate that the fine dining restaurant does not have any working Food Pipes. After speaking with the critic, Nate fixes the Food Pipes until Jacques Huseau explodes from the liquid. The Critic Heart explodes out of Jacques Huseau and onto the floor of the restaurant.
3 The Grotesque Gluttony Monster
Gluttony is an obese monster that dominates the restaurant Mange Ailleurs. He is a deadly creature who is hungry for snacks. Enraged that the restaurant is out of pizza, he attacks and kills a pizza boy with his might for the last remaining pizza.
After chewing the pizza with his terrifying teeth, Gluttony burps and spits a slice of pizza onto Nate’s face. Gluttony chases Nate across the restaurant and pours out acidic liquid to slow the Demon of Bad Taste down. Watch out for the elongated tongue of Gluttony, as it squishes Nate from time to time.
2 The Disturbing IT Corridors
The IT Department in Hell Pie is filled with computers, gadgets, and network cables. It gives players a glimpse of what would happen if the internet went down for a day or two. Nate is introduced to several new characters in this level, who expect him to figure out what’s really going on in the IT Department.
There is a particular corridor in the IT Department that will remind players of classic horror films. The door of the corridor pushes away from Nate as he approaches it. The walls are speckled with cryptic messages that are written in blood-red paint. Players can sprint through these corridors for a truly horrendous experience.
1 Using Nugget
Nugget, Nate's angelic companion, is adorable at first glance. The Cherub is mostly naked throughout the game, and has a body that can make children and adults wonder what the hell Nugget must have gone through to end up chained to Nate.
Nate uses Nugget as an unbreakable weapon to fend off his enemies. Nugget isn’t one to quietly take a beating either. He can be seen making amusing comments to Nate about the most absurd and obscene things in Hell Pie.
