The release of Elden Ring has proven to be an entertaining success for players and streamers alike, outlining a fun experience for gamers to get stuck into and/or show off to their online followers. However, top-tier Twitch partner Hasan "HasanAbi" Piker has been more frustrated on stream while playing, which has provided a different sort of entertainment for his Twitch subs.
HasanAbi has gained a large following in recent years, and is frequently seen undertaking new games or just chatting about various political topics in streams. However, he has also been seen rage-quitting multiple times due to difficult games, and Elden Ring is only the latest in a long line of games that have resulted in impressive outbursts.
The continuation of challenging gameplay seen in previous Soulsborne games was a big talking point prior to release, and director Hidetaka Miyazaki discussed Elden Ring's difficulty before release. Despite efforts to make the game "more accessible" for newer players the infamous difficulty appears to have stayed, as Hasan found out after coming across an NPC Invader named Mad Tongue Alberich. Multiple failed attempts resulted in the streamer screaming in frustration, eventually resulting in Hasan's voice turning hoarse and strained before ending the stream with an angry rage-quit.
The sudden difficulty spike was somewhat unexpected after Hasan managed to dispatch Margit, the Fell Omen with relative ease. The first boss serves as a good test for new players, but this began Hasan's downfall as viewers saw him be killed repeatedly in two hits by the same NPC. The combat system in Elden Ring is just one of the many nuanced gameplay additions that has prompted 5-star reviews for the latest FromSoftware game, but unrelenting attacks from Alberich caused a destructive breakdown for HasanAbi.
Other Twitch streamers such as Dr Disrespect have been ragequitting Elden Ring, suggesting that the game is not for players who shy away from difficult challenges. Seeing multiple streamers give up on Elden Ring because of the difficulty could potentially turn away some people from buying it a result. Hasan has already stated on Twitter that RPGs are some of his favorite games to play, but story-heavy games aren't always the best for streaming.
HasanAbi has been no stranger to controversy, but his rages on stream have pushed his notoriety into successful areas. It remains to be seen whether Hasan will continue streaming Elden Ring, but fans look forward to seeing more rage-induced game streams in the future.
