In order to get everything they want done during the day, players will have to put a lot into every available minute. But for those familiar with the genre and Harvest Moon games specifically, it might seem like the days in Winds of Anthos are a little bit shorter than they were in previous titles.

How Long is a Day in Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos?

A day in Winds of Anthos lasts from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Each hour is about 45 seconds long, meaning that one day is 10 minutes long. A full 24-hour day is about 18 minutes long, from 6:00 AM to the next 6:00 AM. This is shorter than most Harvest Moon titles; they usually have a one second is one minute form of game time, making a day 24 real minutes long. This means that the days are in fact a little shorter than HM fans and fans of other farming simulation games might be used to.

But why are the days shorter? The developers have also changed up how stamina and sleep time works in the life simulationWinds of Anthos game, and this might help to explain why Natsume felt the need to change up the usual formula for time here.

How Does Sleep, Bedtime, and Stamina Work in Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos?

For the most part in similar farming and life simulation games, players will be forced to go to bed at a certain time. For example, in My Time at Portia, players have to be in bed by 2 AM, or else they fall asleep in the middle of whatever they are doing. But in most Harvest Moon games, players can go to sleep at any time, but they will not always wake fully rested. In Winds of Anthos, sleep works like this:

  • Going to bed in this game before midnight, players will wake fully rested.
  • Going to bed between 12 AM and 2 AM, players will wake fully rested but an hour later at 7:00 AM.
  • Going to bed between 2 AM and 4 AM, players will wake fully rested but at 9:00 AM.
  • Going to bed between 4 AM and 6 AM, players will wake at 10 AM with the Sleepless debuff.
  • Not going to bed at all will give players the Sleepless debuff.

How Does the Sleepless Debuff Work in Winds of Anthos?

If players stay up too late or stay up all night long, they will get the Sleepless Debuff. Sleepless means that players will not regain their stamina overnight, and they will use stamina at a much higher rate when running, mining for things like silver ore, or doing other activities. Sleepless can really ruin plans for the day, so players should cook up a lot of foods that will temporarily dispel it, or they should try to make sure to get to sleep on time.

Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos is available for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
