Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos is both a farming and life simulator. Players can make a home, romance a favorite character, grow food, complete quests, and more. While romance is not a huge part of the story of this Harvest Moon title, players can still get married and have a child with their partner if they choose to. In order to have a baby, players will have to do a handful of things to get ready for this new addition to their home and family, including get married and expand their homes.

Players of this life simulation game have probably noticed that when they interact with someone in any town, there is a meter made of musical notes that can fill up. Platonic friends have a limit of five musical notes, but potential romantic partners have up to seven. In order to start a romance with someone, players will need to create a Token of Love and give it to the person they wish to romance. It's made from one red rose, two glass, and on high-quality board lumber. After players give one to their partner, the number of musical notes will expand from five to seven.

Real life is hard. These games double down on that sentiment by making players perform activities that are a pain in real life.

Once players have given out the Token of Love, they must expand their home twice with Doc Jr. This is pretty expensive process, but it's necessary to make players have enough room in their homes for both a spouse and a child. Armed with a bigger home, players can now propose with a blue feather from a blue bird. This is the tradition here in Anthos; they don't exchange jewelry in this world. Feathers can be picked up around the Harvest Goddess statue where players can upgrade their stamina and bags with Power Wisp Harvest Fruits; they will only appear on clear nights between 7PM and 12AM.

Next, have a chat with the chosen bachelor or bachelorette; if players are in possession of a big house, seven musical notes, and a feather, they should get the option for a special dialogue to get married and pick up the special marriage achievement in Harvest Moon. If not, something is missing, so players might need to recheck and make sure they have done everything.

Now that the wedding has taken place, it's time for a baby. Unfortunately in Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos, there is no option to not have a baby; once players are married, they will either fall pregnant a season later if they are in an opposite-sex marriage, or the Harvest Goddess will grant them a child in a dream if they are married to a same-sex partner.

After the dream or the pregnancy announcement, players will have a child 28 in-game days later in The Winds of Anthos. After the baby is born, players will get near-constant reminders to head home and care for their baby; if players fail to feed and love their child enough, they will always wake with the Exhausted status the next day. The baby will need constant attention for the next year of in-game time. The baby will be fully grown in one year, and they will no longer need to be fed or interacted with.

Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos is available for PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and is coming soon to PC.
