Harry Potter: Wizards Unite has had to make a lot of changes to keep its players engaged and active over the last month and looking forward into May. Just like Pokemon GO, Wizards Unite needed to adjust many of its core features to make the mobile AR experience more playable for players who are stuck indoors thanks to stay-at-home orders and other coronavirus precautions.

In addition to adjusting spawn rates and reducing Portkey walking distance requirements, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is also making it possible to remotely participate in Fortress battles for the first time ever in the game. Usually, players have to physically visit a Fortress location and be within a certain range to take part in the battle, but the addition of the Knight Bus to the mobile AR experience removes that barrier.

The Knight Bus began rolling out to high level Wizards Unite players last week, which is usually how Niantic tries to release new features slowly. The rollout went pretty smoothly and within hours the feature was available for all eligible players (level 7 and above). Now, players can login and give the Knight Bus a try while they are stuck at home...

First, witches and wizards will need to make sure their game client is updated to version 2.12.1. Until this forced updated is downloaded and installed, the Knight Bus feature will not be available.

Once the latest patch is installed and the game is restarted, players who are level 7 and above should gain access to the Knight Bus feature. To use the Knight Bus, players simply need to tap the Knight Bus button from the nearby Fortresses screen  on the Map to be whisked away for battle at an eligible Fortress.

"Rather than extending your wand hand and waiting at the curb, simply tap on the new Knight Bus button from the Map view. Hang on tight, as the Knight Bus will instantly whisk you away to a Fortress at Hogwarts Castle where you can use Runestones to take on a variety of Foes, just like in a standard Fortress."

That's all there is to it! Players can start testing out Knight Bus trips now to get used to the feature, which is likely to become very popular over the next few weeks. Some players are likely very happy to learn that this isn't a temporary change either. The Knight Bus is here to stay and will continue to be an option even after the age of social distancing comes to a close.
