In the weeks since social distancing and stay-at-home orders became the new normal in many parts of the world, mobile AR games like Pokemon GO and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite have had to make a ton of changes to try and keep their playerbases active and engaged without leaving their houses. Luckily, Niantic has acted quickly and provided tons of opportunities for players to participate in the games without putting themselves or their communities at any increased danger.
After the March Community Day events had to be cancelled, many players have been wondering how the Niantic mobile AR games would handle the monthly events in April. Finally, it looks like Harry Potter: Wizards Unite players are getting an answer - and it is full of good news for witches and wizards who have been looking forward to the event.
Similar to other April events in Wizards Unite, the upcoming Community Day has been optimized to be playable from home. The event will still offer the usual exciting spawns and bonuses, but players won't have to go to crowded cities, parks, or playgrounds to participate. They also won't need to rush the whole experience into three hours, because things are being stretched out over the course of a day.
Event Date and Time
April Community Day: Play At Home Edition is all day Saturday, April 18 from 12:01 a.m.–11:59 p.m. local time.
Event Theme and Description
Put your Magizoology skills to the test and help return the Murtlap and other Magizoology Foundables.
Please note: To enable as many players around the world as possible to participate safely, this event has been adjusted to facilitate playing from home. Please remember to adhere to local rules and regulations, and be respectful of others and your surroundings.
Event Bonuses and Features
This Community Day you can look forward to the following:
- A Special Assignment with rewards including Spellbooks, Potion Ingredients, Gold and Murtlap Fragments
- Increased sightings of Foundables from the Central Park Registry page, including the Erumpent, Mountain Troll, Demiguise, Branch of Bowtruckles and Pickett
- Special 1 km Portmanteau containing Murtlap Fragments
Although the game has been around for a while now, all of these opportunities to earn bonus XP and rank up are still pretty strong motivation to stay engaged throughout the event. Some of the tasks might take a bit of time to complete, but for the most part the challenges are fairly straightforward and soloable. Just make sure you study up for your Great Spell casts.
