Harry Potter was created and written by J.K. Rowling. She released the first novel in 1997, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, with the first movie adaptation coming out in 2001. Ever since the release of both the books and the movies, the series amassed a lot of fans. From a theme park in Orlando, Florida, to game adaptations, like Hogwarts: Legacy, which is rumored to come out this year, these series have everything to satisfy the imagination of its fans.

Although the movies were adaptations of the books, the films left out a few details about the Burrow, the fan-favorite magical home of the Weasleys. Avid readers of the novels should know these interesting tidbits.

8 The Burrow's Physical Appearance And Location

The Burrow was once a little Tudor building with a pigpen on its side. Eventually, after Molly and Arthur graduated and got married, they moved into the pigpen. As they had more children over the years, they would add additional rooms until their homes were a few stories high and so crooked it had to be held by magic. It even had four or five chimneys on the roof.

The home was in Devon, England, located on the outskirts of Ottery St Catchpole. The Lovegoods, the Diggorys, and the Fawcetts also lived nearby.

7 The Guests Over The Years

Over the years, the Burrow was home to many guests. Harry Potter often stayed a few times in Ron's bedroom. Hermione slept in Ginny's room when she visited during the summer of 1994, 1996, and 1997. During the Christmas Holidays of 1997, Remus Lupin also stayed a while in Bill's room while Bill shared with the twins.

Fleur Delacour used to stay with Ginny when she came to visit until Percy moved out. Then she stayed in his room from the summer of 1996 to August 1997. When her wedding to Bill came around, her little sister, Gabrielle bunked with her, and their parents stayed in another room, although it isn't clear which one. In July 1997, when the Burrow became the new headquarters for the Order of the Phoenix, several members also stayed at the Burrow for a couple of weeks.

6 Inside The Home And Its Magical Items

The ground floor of the Burrow is where fans can expect to find the kitchen, the scullery, and the living room. The kitchen is where most of the family spent their time. The scullery was used by Molly when she was washing her family's clothes.

The famous clock, seen in the movies, was hung in the living room. In the novels, the hand on the clock pointed the kids to "mortal peril" instead of "at school" or "the dentist" upon Voldemort's return, which worried Molly so much, she carried the clock everywhere.

5 The Bedrooms

The Burrow had a total of six bedrooms. Ginny had hers on the first floor, and although it was small, it was really bright. As a fan of the Quidditch team, the Holyhead Harpies, she had many posters of the team and their captain, Gwenog Jones, on the walls. Fred and George shared the same room on the second floor next to Percy's. The twins were known to conduct many experiments, which caused many explosions and annoyed Percy. Their room still smelt like gunpowder long after the twins have moved out.

Bill had his room on the third floor, and although it's not clear if Charlie had his room, he stayed with Bill when he came to visit. The parents occupied the fourth floor, and Ron had the fifth. Ron's room was smaller than what Harry had back at the Dursley. Almost everything in Ron's room, including the walls, was orange. He had several posters of the Chudley Cannons Quidditch Team hung up as well.

4 The Family Pets

The Burrow was home to many of the family's pets. Fans who have only seen the movie already know about Scabbers, who was really Peter Pettigrew, and Errol, the old family owl. However, the movies failed to show fans that the family owned more than two pets. After Ron lost Scabbers, Sirius Black gave him his Scops owl as a gift. Ron later named it Pig, short for Pigwideon.

It was also home to Percy's Screech owl, Hermes, whom he received as a gift for becoming a Gryffindor prefect, and Ginny eventually got a Pygmy Puff named Arnold that often sat on her shoulder. The family also owned a Puffskein and a bunch of pigs and chickens. The Burrow was also a temporary home to Harry's owl Hedwig, and Hermione's cat named Crookshanks.

3 The Family Ghoul

The Burrow was also home to the family ghoul who lived in the attic above Ron's room. Although most wizards would have regarded the ghoul as a pest, the Weasley considered him more like a pet. The ghoul kept to himself and minded his business, except when the house grew too quiet. Then he took it upon himself to bang on the pipes or howl.

Later on, when Harry was about to set off with Hermione to look for Horcruxes, Ron couldn't follow without endangering and angering his family. Therefore, he transfigured the ghoul into himself with the help of Fred, George, and Arthur (who hid it from his wife). They also gave the ghoul the appearance of being seriously ill, which kept wizards, like the Death Eaters or the Ministry, at bay and explained Ron's absence at school.

2 The Burrow's Exterior

The front yard had a garage for storing Arthur's Muggle items and his flying car, a Ford Anglia. It was also where their chicken coop was. The backyard had a stone outhouse used as a broom shed, and they had a cornfield nearby. The Weasleys also owned an orchard, where the kids would practice and play Quidditch. It was also there that Fleur and Bill's wedding took place.

The garden was unkempt, which would have probably angered the Dursleys if it was theirs and full of gnomes. No matter how often the Weasleys would "de-gnome" the garden by throwing them over the hedge, they'd come back because Arthur wasn't severe enough.

1 After The War

After the battle at Hogwarts, the parents returned home. The Burrow became famous for its involvement with the Death Eaters, the Order of the Phoenix, and Voldemort. The Weasley home often attracted wizards, who were intrigued by the history and wanted pictures. Ron suggested that a fee should be charged to the visitors, but Arthur refused.

Eventually, all the kids moved out of the Burrow. Percy had moved out in 1995 to live in London after the whole argument about the Ministry he had with his family. In 1996, Fred and George got a flat above their shop, Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, in Diagon Alley. In 1997, Bill moved with Fleur to Shell Cottage, and fans assumed that Ron and Ginny had moved out in the 2000s to live with their partners.
