Harry Potter: Magic Awakened is the latest title to hit the global mobile market (and currently the SEA region for PC as well). It offers an enriching campaign and myriad activities, like duels, solo and club adventures into the Forbidden Forest, and more. Since it is a part of the MMORPG genre, it provides players with a host of customization options, which are intertwined with the universe’s characters as well.

Simply put, they can go to Diagon Alley and visit Madam Malkin’s Robes to change their complexion, hairstyle, outfits, and more in this Harry Potter title. They can go to the Ollivander’s Wand Shop to buy skins for their wands, the Owl Post Office to change their owl, and even the Quality Quidditch Supplies to pick up a new broom. Although the customization feature and these shops may seem natural, many players have had difficulty trying to change their character’s appearance, wand, or even owl.

Harry Potter: Magic Awakened Guide - Steps to Change Character Appearance

Harry Potter: Magic Awakened

Just like Hogwarts Legacy, albeit on a smaller scale, this title allows players to choose between set outfits, scarves, accessories, and even facial features. Further, they can even have up to four outfit slots (10 Gems are needed to unlock the fourth) where they can save a particular appearance set.

If they wish to change how they look by using the clothes and items already present in their inventory, the process is quite simple in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. All they have to do is click on Knapsack in the lower-right corner and then the New Look Mirror button. This will open a menu where all the owned items will appear.

To obtain new clothing, players will have to either buy them from the in-game shop or go to Madam Malkin’s Robes. The steps for the latter are as follows:

  1. Click on the map and then on the Diagon Alley icon on the right.
  2. Clicking on the robes icon on the left will start a loading screen, after which players will appear in Madam Malkin’s shop.
  3. Harry Potter: Magic Awakened
Once there, interact with the madam for a couple of dialogues and then proceed into the room on the right.
  4. Go to the dressing table on the left to change complexion, facial features, hairstyle (those already bought), and accessories. The full-height mirror in the center will help select various outfits. The display on the right displays the hats, scarves, and hairstyles that are available to buy.
  5. Harry Potter: Magic Awakened
Once players have made their choice from any or all three displays, they can buy the items right there or proceed to walk out of the room, where they will be given the choice to buy all the items in one go.

Once they have brought everything they wanted, the items will appear in their inventory and later their Closet once they proceed through Harry Potter: Magic Awakened's campaign and unlock it. Further, players can also acquire outfits, wand skins, and more from the Mystery Wheel in Diagon Alley and the Magic Pass, which has both free and paid tiers, but it appears after they have progressed a fair bit into the campaign.

Harry Potter: Magic Awakened Guide – How to Get Wand Skins

Harry Potter: Magic Awakened

In what can only be seen as a great benefit, wand skins provide more than just an aesthetic appeal. The different options that are available to players currently or in the future offer statistical benefits as well in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. For example, some offer increased MP generation speed; some add an extra rescue attempt in duels; some enhance exploration attributes or buff proficiency, etc. Essentially, gamers have quite a bit to think about regarding gameplay when making a choice.

To see the list of wand skins obtainable in the game, currently or coming soon, follow these steps:

  1. Click on Knapsack on the playable screen and then click Info.
  2. Click on Exploration Attributes at the bottom of the page and then on Wand Skin.

This will pull up a list of wands that will count toward players’ progress in the game. Since there are some that have been marked “Coming Soon,” players can rest assured that the developers will keep adding more content to the title in the future.

There are five ways to acquire wand skins:

  • Complete quests and limited-time events.
  • Spin the Mystery Wheel.
  • Buy from Ollivander’s Wand Shop.
  • Obtain from the Magic Pass.
  • Certain wand skins can be acquired by using Loyalty Points in the Supplies section of the in-game shop. These points can be earned by buying Jewels with real-life money.

The method to go to Ollivander’s Wand Shop in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened is simple and the same as the one to go to Madam Malkin’s Robes given in the previous section. Essentially, players need to go to the Diagon Alley section of the map and then click on the said wand shop’s icon to appear there. Similarly, they need to interact with the wandmaker to get a list of available options. It is important to note that the purchase options will be unavailable earlier on in the story. Thus, for a certain amount of time, they will have to make do with the wand they acquired before starting Hogwarts.

Further, players cannot change individual components, like the handle or color, or other embellishments. As such, any wand skin they acquire will be a set package deal. This also prohibits them from mixing the various statistical benefits, especially as these can be compounded with a well-chosen set of cards to make a significant difference in gameplay.

Harry Potter: Magic Awakened Guide – How to Change Owls

Harry Potter: Magic Awakened

Although not feature-rich, players can change their owls as well in the MMORPG title. They will make their first purchase before starting Hogwarts. Later on, they can again make their way to the Owl Post Office in Diagon Alley to choose a different owl. There are only a few options currently available, with a couple of others marked "Coming Soon."

What is disappointing is that, unlike wand skins, players’ chosen owls do not add any gameplay benefits but only progress toward completion. However, there is one special variant, the Eagle Owl, which can be obtained from Loyalty Rewards. What makes it special is that it appears in chat as well, which alludes to the possibility that the upcoming additions may bring unique features to Harry Potter: Magic Awakened.

Harry Potter: Magic Awakened

Overall, the title provides a host of personalization options that hardcore fans will appreciate. Since the world is immersive, and they can invite their friends along for the ride as well, customizing appearance really helps add another level of depth to the game. Further, the title was launched globally recently (PC is limited to the SEA region as of now), which leads to the assumption that a lot more gameplay and customization content will be added down the line.

Harry Potter: Magic Awakened is available on PC, Android, and iOS.
