After the end of the Harry Potter movie series in 2011, some younger cast members struggled with finding different roles not related to the franchise. That's not the case for Tom Felton who went on to appear in multiple movies as well as successful TV series (Origin and The Flash). Felton has proven his wide acting range over and over again.

However, many people still know him best as Draco Malfoy, Harry Potter's school rival, and might have missed out on watching some of Felton's lesser-known and underappreciated movies that both predate and follow the Harry Potter series. That's despite the fact that the movies have a lot to offer to any moviegoer, not just those who loved Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy.

5 The Borrowers (1997)

The Borrowers

One of Tom Felton's very first roles was in this imaginative family fantasy movie. The Clock family are tiny four-inch-tall people living inside the walls of a house. They lead a peaceful life until an evil real estate developer Ocious P. Potter (John Goodman) decides to get the house and drive the Clock family out. Luckily, the family isn't ready to give up without a fight! The movie is full of imaginative moments showing how different life can be when someone is just four inches tall.

So even though the Clock family has a serious height disadvantage, their knowledge of every crook and corner of the house just about gives them a fighting chance. The movie has a fast pace and an excellent cast with multiple actors familiar to Harry Potter fans. Other than Tom Felton as the youngest child of the family, Peagreen Clock, the movie also stars Jim Broadbent (Horace Slughorn in Harry Potter) and Mark Williams (Mr. Weasley).

4 Anna And The King (1999)

Anna and the King

Tom Felton, just like his young fellow actors, became truly famous when he played in the Harry Potter series. However, unlike some Harry Potter actors, Felton has done movies even before his appearance as Draco Malfoy. In this historic romance drama, Jodie Foster plays a British schoolteacher Anna who arrives in Siam in the 1860s and starts building a deep bond with the King of Siam (Chow Yun-Fat).

The setting and costumes are beautiful, and the movie shows that affection between people knows no cultural bounds. While Foster and Yun-Fat steal the movie for themselves, Tom Felton is still more than noticeable as Anna's young son Louis as he travels to Siam with her. Anybody interested in the actor's beginnings shouldn't miss out on watching the movie since Felton was barely 12 years old when the movie premiered.

3 Risen (2016)

Risen 2016

Since the end of his Draco Malfoy days, Tom Felton has appeared in multiple movies of various genres. With Risen, he turned to the waters of historical drama inspired by real events, the dawn of Christianity, and the events surrounding Christ's death. The movie stars Joseph Fiennes as Clavius, a Roman Tribune who's tasked with finding the body of Jesus Christ after it goes missing. As Clavius soon realizes, the task he faces won't be an easy one.

Tom Felton has a prominent part in the movie as well. He plays Lucius, Clavius's loyal aide, who, however, doesn't always share the same opinions and goals. Once again, Tom Felton proves that historical roles suit him just as well as the ones from contemporary stories. So even though Risen got mixed reviews from the critics, Felton's fans shouldn't miss out on watching it... and not just because of the inner joke that Felton's character is called Lucius, just like Draco Malfoy's father in Harry Potter.

2 Megan Leavey (2017)

Megan Leavey 2016

Some of the best movies are based on real events but not every such story gets the attention it deserves from the audience. The war movie tells the story of a young Marine corporal Megan Leavey (Kate Mara) who was able to save many lives in Iraq by not giving up and working closely with her dog. The movie soon draws the audience in and when Megan's in Iraq, helping others and risking her life, it's easy to fear for her since danger can come from almost any side.

Kate Mara is sympathetic in the titular role, but the movie also has a strong supporting cast, including Tom Felton as Sergeant Andrew Dean who's a dog handler. Everybody who wants to see Felton in a more civil, non-fantasy movie, should give Megan Leavey a chance.

1 A Babysitter's Guide To Monster Hunting (2020)

A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting

The movie is aimed at the younger audience and ideal for everyone who wants to see Tom Felton in yet another villainous role. Unlike Draco Malfoy who eventually turned things around and became one of the good guys, Felton's Grand Guignol in this movie, a creature that kidnaps young children, stays the bad guy from the start to the finish.

It might be difficult for even his fans to recognize Felton in the movie since he's so heavily masked throughout the entirety of it. However, his lively and charismatic performance makes Grand Guignol one of the highlights of the movie and Felton steals every scene he appears in for himself. While he might not be scary for the adult audience, it's not a stretch to imagine that children might actually fear him.
