The usual history class that Muggles have might be uninteresting, but the history class in Hogwarts is not going to be a snooze fest. Although the class is taught by a drowsy teacher named Cuthbert Binns, who happens to be a ghost, the class is sometimes also taught via paintings of Hogwarts founders, teaching the students about the founding of Hogwarts and its rich history.

One particular painting that is often brought up to the class is the painting of Rowena Ravenclaw, and other ghosts also often come in and teach the young wizards and witches.

This elective course is taught by Sybill Trelawney, the descendant of the Great Seer, Cassandra Trelawney. Divination class taught methods of predicting and looking through the future by using tea dregs, crystal balls, visions, astrology, and horoscope charts.

Many do not take this course seriously due to its unstable and complicated nature, yet the predictions made by the True Seer are an important plot point in the Harry Potter universe, as can be seen from piles of prophecy stored in the Ministry of Magic.

Flying with a broomstick is one of the basic skills a wizard or a witch should have obtained since they were young. Also known as Broom Flight Class, the Flying class is taught by Rolanda Hooch for first-year students.

The lesson is mostly about how to fly safely, and how to gain total control of the broomstick, just like how muggles learn how to drive cars while maintaining safety and assurance. It is one of the most popular classes among its students, given its fun and exciting nature.

The class also taught the students how to feed, maintain, and properly breed the creatures. Those who are attending this class must obtain a textbook titled Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

As a mandatory class, transfiguration is a highly important subject one must obtain during their years in Hogwarts. The lesson consists of knowledge and skills development to change the appearance of items, humans, or animals.

Many prominent headmasters at Hogwarts used to teach this class, namely Albus Dumbledore. During the golden trio years, the class was taught by Minerva McGonagall. It is deemed as one of the most difficult, complex, and dangerous subjects in Hogwarts as it requires deep concentration and mastery of charm spells.

Ever since his rejection, no teachers have lasted longer than a year, feeding the rumor of the position being jinxed. It is stated that in later years, Harry Potter held the position of guest lecturer for the class, as he had extensive experience of dealing with the Dark Arts throughout his adolescence.
