Since her debut in September 1992, Harley Quinn soon became a fan favorite character, with a fanbase that's always desperate to see her brought back. As a result, this psychiatrist turned mad has appeared in dozens of TV shows, films and video games. Each time, she comes back with a different style, hair color and, of course, an awesome novelty weapon to match.
In fact, one of the most iconic things about the Gotham City Siren is her collection of unique gadgets, usually centered around her clown princess persona. From killer children toys to her signature mallet, here are Harley's coolest weapons, ranked.
10 Snare Trap
Made available to the player while playing The Harley Quinn Story Pack on Batman: Arkham Knight, the snare trap is a key, and extremely fun, part of her kit. For those that have played any game in the Arkham series, this gadget works identically to Batman's Freeze Blast. Harley's snare trap, however, will bounce off of walls rather than stick to them.
Players can also choose to use the snare trap as a sort of mine. When triggered by an enemy, they become stunned, allowing Harley to perform a Special Takedown. The best part about the snare trap is perhaps its amazing instant takedown capability. This bit of kit can irritate Poison Ivy's man-eating plants, causing them to grab the nearest enemy and swallow them whole.
9 Baseball Bat
Whilst the baseball bat is not as unique as other weapons Harley has used, it's certainly iconic. From her appearance in the comics, to the Arkham games, to (most notably) the Suicide Squad movies, this trusty baseball bat has followed her everywhere.
This bat has seen a selection of designs over the last few years: red stripes, the words 'good night' slapped across it, and diamond detailing. With how often this particular weapon is featured, it's fair to say that it's become a signature part of her character — and that's why it's one of the coolest.
8 Oversized Mallet
Like the baseball bat, this weapon isn't too exciting, but it is arguably the most iconic part of her kit. It's been featured in Batman: The Animated Series, comics and, most recently, Birds of Prey (albeit much smaller than fans have seen it before).
The origin story behind this mallet earns it bonus points. Harley was first seen with her mallet during the debut episode of The New Batman Adventures (titled 'Holiday Knights'). Here, Batman chases Harley and Ivy into a toy store, where Harley then takes a giant mallet from a nutcracker statue and hits The Dark Knight over the head with it. The rest is history!
7 Laughing Gas
Laughing Gas has made it into Harley's kit a few times over the years, most notably in the Arkham series. In these games, both Harley Quinn and Joker use a type of gas called 'Smilex.' Harley uses laughing gas both in the Harley Quinn's Revenge Arkham City DLC, where she puts it in her bombs; and in grenade form in the Harley Quinn Arkham Knight DLC, using it to escape from armed guards.
Laughing gas has also played a key part in Harley's timeline. For example, she used laughing gas disguised as perfume to escape from Arkham Asylum. It's especially fitting for her character as the clown princess; this gag weapon has Harley's name written all over it.
6 Jack-In-The-Box
Speaking of gag gifts, Harley's Jack-in-the-box is another gadget that is both awesome and incredibly fitting. This item doesn't appear often, but it is a key part of her kit in the Arkham Knight: Harley Quinn Story Pack DLC. In this mode, players can place a Jack-in-the-box which will begin to play music, alerting nearby guards. Once the music stops, it'll explode, stunning the enemies around it and making them vulnerable to her attack.
The design of these are especially cool. The box itself is red and covered in Harley's iconic diamond logo, while the dummy inside is a jester, just like what the character herself is based off of.
5 Cake Bomb
Exclusive to Injustice, the cake bomb deserves to be featured more often. This delicious-looking exploding cake is used to finish an enemy, and it's not the only dangerously sweet treat in the game. Harley also uses cupcake grenades, which look just as scrumptious.
This weapon gets bonus points for being both an original, unique addition to her kit and, of course, looking tasty despite its true purpose.
4 Boxing Glove Gun
Like the Cupcake Bomb, the boxing glove gun hasn't appeared often, but that doesn't make it any less cool. It's designed to look like a revolver, but instead of bullets, it fires a boxing glove. It's not the most practical weapon of choice, but it screams Harley Quinn. What would her kit be without a gag weapon or two?
This weapon has appeared a handful of times in the animated series and, more recently, as part of one of Harley's abilities called 'Prank Shot' in MultiVersus.
3 Pop Gun
When thinking of Harley Quinn, there are three weapons that come to mind: her bat, her mallet and, of course, her pop gun. The pop gun is a typical gag weapon. While it resembles a gun, the person it's being aimed at doesn't know it's actually a toy.
Harley's pop gun, however, is a real revolver that sometimes fires actual bullets and other times, joke ones. This iconic weapon has featured in a number of films, shows, and comics, making it a signature part of her kit.
2 Fun Gun
Harley Quinn's fun gun was a highlight of Birds of Prey, and is fascinating in the way it works. It's a modified grenade launcher that can fire either confetti, glitter, powder bombs, or bean bags instead of grenades. That might sound like a gag weapon, but it actually does quite a bit of damage to anyone unfortunate enough to be at the opposite end of the barrel.
Fans have speculated that the fun gun might have been inspired by her confetti canon in Injustice 2, a fun bit of her kit that, when fully charged, is both unblockable and does a good bit of damage.
1 Bud and Lou
Harley's beloved pet hyenas are truly her greatest weapons. Bud and Lou, named after the 1950s comedy duo Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, are spotted hyenas, commonly known as laughing hyenas. With the way they cackle, there is no doubt that these are the perfect pet for Harley.
This adorable yet vicious pair frequently appears in Batman: The Animated Series, several comics, and Birds of Prey. They're often seen tearing Harley's enemies apart. For that reason, they're arguably her most efficient weapon, not to mention coolest.
