It isn't uncommon for video game developers to challenge their players, though it's slightly less common for food to be offered as a reward for completing a difficult task. However, Bungie has not only offered up food as a reward before, but it apparently still owes a Halo: Reach player a steak dinner, nearly a decade after the FPS first launched on the Xbox 360.
Back when Bungie was behind the Halo series, the developer would sometimes run community events, as well as a special occasion on July 7, which is considered Bungie Day due to the 7's significance to the company. In 2011, Bungie had a particularly juicy prize to offer players for Bungie Day — a steak dinner, given out to anyone that managed to earn a Steaktacular against a team of developers, meaning they beat them by a margin of at least 20 kills.
Reddit user BluePenguin053 managed to earn the Steaktacular against Bungie, but was never sent their reward of two steaks. For players that doubt the user's accomplishment, BluePenguin uploaded an image showing off the medal they earned, proof that they had, indeed, managed to tackle the feat archived thanks to Halo Waypoint.

The user asks if anyone is able to get them their steaks, and there have been some mods tagged in the post, though no real confirmation on a yes or no answer quite yet. Right now, the announcement page for the Bungie Day event is still live on Bungie.net, complete with the specific terms and conditions for the competition, and while there are a heap of exclusions that allow Bungie to terminate the contest at any time, the free steaks seem like a BluePenguin's just due.
Nine years is a long time to wait for dinner, or any prize, really. With Halo Reach recently launching on PC, it seems like an appropriate time to finally get the promised steak dinner, though it depends on whether or not the right people at Bungie see the fan's request.
With any luck, BluePenguin won't have to wait much longer to get their steak, at least relative to the prior 9 years. With Halo Infinite releasing next year, it would be great to see community events like Bungie Day pop back up again under 343's banner, but it's hard to say if that will ever happen. If it does, one can hope that players manage to get their steaks much faster than a decade.
