Halo Infinite is currently in Season 2: Lone Wolves, which has introduced a bunch of new content to the first-person shooter. In addition to this latest seasonal content, the game occasionally hosts limited-time in-game events for players to participate in that are usually based around a particular theme. And it appears that 343 Industries has given fans a sneak peek at the latest event coming to the game, involving a particularly famous Grunt.

In a tweet from August 30, the official Halo Twitter account sent a message regarding a new event coming to Halo Infinite. According to the tweet from the developer, the new event is called the Yappening, and it appears named after the warlord Grunt called YayYap the Destroyer, who rebelled against the Banished. In addition to revealing the name of the event, the tweet noted that the festivities are expected to kick off on September 6. It is currently unknown how long the event will last.

While not much is known about the Yappening, 343 Industries included a comic in the announcement tweet, providing clues about what to expect. In the comic, a Grunt attempted to make its way into a UNSC-held base to sell merchandise. While no cosmetics have been confirmed for the event, a mohawk headpiece was seen on what appeared to be a soccer ball, suggesting that a new helmet could be coming to the game. In addition, the final slide of the comic said that players could “play weird games” and “get weird stuff.” Based on this information, it appears likely that the Yappening will include a new game mode along with some unusual-looking cosmetics for players to equip in Halo Infinite.

Since the official Halo Twitter account posted news about the Yappening, many members of the Halo Infinite community have voiced their support for the event. The tweet has gained over 5,000 likes, and a number of fans have chimed in on what they think about the upcoming festivities. Among the comments, one gamer said they wished the developers included a game mode that would let them battle Grunts in giants mechs, which had been done in previous installments in the series.

It will be interesting to see what shape the Yappening takes when it goes live on September 6. Interestingly, this is not the first time 343 Industries has hosted an event by this name. The Yappening has also happened in past games, including Halo Wars 2 and the Master Chief Collection. Regardless of what transpires in the latest version of the event for Halo Infinite, hopefully, it proves to be a fun time for gamers wanting to check out the new content.

Halo Infinite is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
