Although it received a mixed reception at launch, Halo Infinite has mainly been a successful title for 343 Industries with a number of the game's new additions being in growing popularity. But nine months after the franchise's latest entry, many players are left wanting as the developer falls behind in content and feature additions to the game, with some aspects like local co-op split-screen play being abandoned completely. However, some players appear to have found workarounds to getting split-screen to work on Halo Infinite.Local co-op split-screen gameplay has been a staple of the Halo series since its launch back in 2001. Despite the lack of campaign split-screen in Halo 5: Guardians, 343 Industries had earlier assured that it will ship the highly-anticipated feature after Infinite's launch. Unfortunately, a recent update states that 343 won't be bringing local split-screen co-op to Halo Infinite and that campaign co-op will only be available online. During the announcement, the developers also mentioned that Halo Infinite forge mode will be coming on November 8, though the lack of local split-screen play is bound to disappoint many longtime fans.RELATED:Halo Infinite Reveals Roadmap for Winter Update and Season 3Amid this situation, one player has managed to make split-screen work on Halo Infinite on an Xbox One. The workaround was initially discovered by @Zeny_IC on Twitter, which involved exploiting a menu glitch and some specific selections. The trick would essentially allow players to enable split-screen play for local co-op same as the previous Halo titles. Following this, another user going by the name @KatsuyaTheFuuk made the split-screen feature playable with a two-player setup on a VCR Xbox One.

However, the gamer's playthrough showed some minor errors such as low-resolution texture issues and varying times of day for each player. Though it doesn't appear to render the gameplay unplayable in any sense, it remains to be seen if these types of issues become more noticeable when more players are added to the split-screen co-op. Regardless, the workaround will come as a welcome discovery for many players who have been waiting for split-screen on Halo Infinite since 2020.

In other Halo news, more evidence of a potential Halo Infinite Battle Royale mode has surfaced online. Earlier rumors suggested that the battle royale mode, codenamed Tatanka, would be arriving in Halo Infinite season 3 or later. Now, what looks to be an in-game menu screenshot shows five different options for the battle royale queue along with a quote at the bottom reading "Welcome to the Ring. Emerge victorious by being the last player standing." 343 is yet to make any official announcements on this front. Even with the abandonment of the local split-screen feature, fans will have more things to look forward to moving into 2023. Time will tell whether that will be enough to appease Halo Infinite players, though.

Halo Infinite is now available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
