As far as anticipated exclusives go, Halo Infinite is at the top of the list for many. The game will be the first Halo launch title since the original debuted with the Xbox, and it's easily the biggest game in Microsoft's roster for this year. However, it's still in development, though fans have now gotten a peek at one strange source for sound effects in the game.
A video of 343 Industries capturing audio from Xbox hardware has been circulating Twitter, with developers using the electromagnetic fields emitting from consoles as a source for sound effects. Those sounds will likely be used to create weapon blasts, vehicle sounds, and more as players blast their way through Halo Infinite's campaign.
The Halo franchise has a long history of capturing audio from strange sources, with enemies like Elites using altered versions of human NPC voices in the original game. It's an interesting method of capturing audio, but effective. Halo's weapons and enemies are iconic, and a lot of their appeal comes from how they sound.
Microsoft has promised Halo Infinite news at the July Xbox event, likely a deep dive into gameplay, which players haven't really seen yet. In fact, very little is known about the game, though it appears to be something of a return to form for the franchise, though with the introduction of new mechanics that should give it much better size and scope.
Halo Infinite was recently compared to God of War by an insider, at least in terms of certain aspects, though players don't have an indication of what that means quite yet.
