What makes the Halo Infinite sandbox addictive for players is how the sandbox allows them to interact with other players and the world around them in countless ways, but one player wants to see a return of a weapon feature that would add yet another tool for players to take advantage of.

In prior releases, the Sniper Rifle had the special ability to ricochet rounds off of virtually any surface the player could shoot, but this doesn't return in Halo Infinite. One player took to Reddit to share about how 343 Industries should bring back ricochet for the Sniper Rifle, especially when other weapons have this feature.

Reddit user Zsean69 created a post regarding the lack of Sniper Rifle ricochet: "I am shocked no one is talking about sniper ricochet being gone." Zsean69 continues by pointing out that the purpose of the post isn't to cause hate. Instead, Zsean69 states, "I do miss it and the chaos you could cause" and finishes off the post by saying that it's "kind of weird [343 Industries] neglected this [feature]." Currently, 343 Industries has not addressed the lack of sniper ricochet in Halo Infinite though some weapons have this ability.

Sniper rifles in previous entries had the ability to bounce bullets off of surfaces if fired at the correct angle, or ricochet. Halo players often pull off incredible plays using this weapon, and the ability to ricochet its bullets sometimes helped facilitate those plays by extending them or being the plays themselves. While the Sniper Rifle cannot ricochet shots, other weapons in Halo Infinite can. In fact, the Heatwave shotgun's gimmick is that players can hold down choke points within a map by bouncing its rounds down tight corridors.

Some players might argue that the feature's removal is meant to keep the Sniper Rifle's power in check. Other players might say it's to keep the weapon predictable since being killed by a stray bullet is not a fun experience. However, Halo Infinite's unique multiplayer sandbox is what gives the game its identity.

In Halo 3, players would ricochet bullets at certain choke points to prevent the enemy team from securing a power weapon such as the Rocket Launcher on The Pit. Considering that Halo Infinite has a competitive scene, all the addition of sniper ricochet would do is add more depth to a game with an already amazing sandbox. While 343 Industries is already working on fixing a number of issues and pushing out highly-anticipated features such as Forge, players still might want to see sniper ricochet make a comeback.

Halo Infinite is now available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
