After years of development, the multiplayer portion of Halo Infinite has been released for free. While the multiplayer preview has been available for some time now, users will finally be able to enjoy Halo Infinite multiplayer from a much more accessible lens. Though, after being out for less than a day, the game has already achieved massive success on a particular platform.

Many players have had an opportunity to get a taste of Halo Infinite's multiplayer via the technical preview, and it was received quite well . Although, what's truly impressive is how much immediate attention and popularity Halo Infinite's multiplayer has received upon its initial availability, to the point where the game managed to quickly break an impressive record.

According to Daniel Ahmad on Twitter, as of today, Halo Infinite has become the most successful Xbox Game Studios game released on Steam. After being out for less than a day, Halo Infinite has reached over 162k concurrent users and will likely continue to grow over the course of the next several days. This record was previously held by Forza Horizon 5, which was released on Steam just over a week ago.

Of course, it is worth mentioning that unlike Forza Horizon 5 and many other Xbox Game Studios titles, Halo Infinite's multiplayer is free to play. Hence, the only thing that hinders player accessibility is the lack of console ownership or an updated PC. In any case, it's still an incredibly impressive milestone that indicates a strong start to Halo Infinite's success.

However, while the multiplayer is currently available, there's still a number of details surrounding Halo Infinite that have many fans of the series curious. A lot of additional information regarding Halo Infinite's single-player campaign has recently been released, but there's still a lot of finer details that have yet to be revealed. Then again, it's possible that 343 Industries wants to keep certain details of the campaign in the dark until the game officially launches.

It will be interesting to see how well the rest of Halo Infinite will be received. There have been some rumors floating around that Halo Infinite could be receiving multiple campaigns, which may not seem as unlikely as some fans may think. Apparently, Halo Infinite is meant to last ten years and given the multitude of battle pass seasons included in Halo: The Master Chief collection, it's possible that 343 Industries could potentially employ a similar model with regards to the story campaign.

Halo Infinite releases December 8 on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
