While it might be hard to believe, the multiplayer for Halo Infinite has been out now for nearly two months. Since its release, numerous players have checked out the game, with many praising the gameplay. However, it is not without its flaws. Among the problems with the game, one major issue impacting performance is desync. As the name suggests, desync occurs in Halo Infinite when players’ connections to a server lose synchronization. As a result of this desync, players affected by these connection issues can appear to teleport randomly to different spots on the map as the server attempts to catch up. This unfortunate side effect of desync tends to cause chaos in matches, as what one gamer sees is not always indicative of what is actually happening in the multiplayer lobby. Currently, desync is a problem that can impact all the multiplayer modes. However, it appears that a fix might be on the horizon.RELATED: Halo Infinite Player Uses Theater Mode to Make Best Play More DramaticIn a tweet from January 11, Jerry Hook, the Head of Design at 343 Industries, updated fans on some of the problems the company was working on addressing at the start of the year. Among the issues discussed was desync in multiplayer matches in Halo Infinite. According to Hook, the development team would begin investigating the problem moving forward. “Desync is being looked at,” he said.

This response from the developer is encouraging news for many fans who want the issue resolved. It is understandable that players want a fix implemented in the near future, as desync ruins the competitive integrity of online matches. The problem is even more frustrating for those playing in Ranked playlists, as precious ranking points are up for grabs. Unfortunately, this comment from the developer fails to give a timeline for any potential fixes, meaning that players could be forced to wait a while for improvements.

This is not the only issue the development team at 343 Industries is looking to address at the start of the new year. Hook noted that the engineers at the company had worked on fixes for the broken Big Team Battle over the holidays. This chaotic 12v12 mode is popular with fans, but recent problems have made the mode nearly unplayable. In addition, Hook revealed that the developers were working on new ways to combat cheating on PC.

It will be interesting to see how the developers at 343 Industries attempt to fix desync issues impacting Halo Infinite in the coming days. Hopefully, the problems can be resolved soon so that players can get back to enjoying the smoothest gameplay experience possible in multiplayer.

Halo Infinite is available now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
