343 Industries releases a new trailer for Cyber Showdown 3 in Halo Infinite, a limited time mode that brings with it cyberpunk-inspired gear, cosmetics, as well as new content to check out. The winds of change are blowing for Halo Infinite in 2024, as developer 343 Industries announced a change in how it intends to deliver content. As Halo Infinite approaches its third birthday later this year, players will be seeing more content at faster intervals to hopefully keep players engaged with new content to check out.

The admission came in January during a community livestream as 343 confirmed it is moving away from the paid battle pass system in favor of shorter and smaller content updates. These updates, which Halo Infinite will be calling Operations, feature 20-tier free battle passes and last anywhere from 4-6 weeks. However, players can use 500 credits ($5 USD) to unlock the battle pass permanently, allowing them to finish them at their own pace. Under this new system, the third iteration of Cyber Showdown has arrived and for this version, players not only have new content to look forward to, but a few tweaks as well.

Halo Infinite's development was notoriously difficult, leading to some major elements of the game being completely cut just before its 2021 release.

In a new trailer released for Halo Infinite, the latest Cyber Showdown limited time event has been revealed, along with all of its rewards, cosmetics, and tweaks. As expected, this Operation continues the new trend of offering a free battle pass with 20 tiers to unlock, with various rewards like armor coating, new helmets, and weapon charms. Players who purchase the battle pass instantly unlock the Emberbreak armor coating as well. The gear for Cyber Showdown 3 is focused on the Chimera armor core with various "viral machine" parts being customizable, like the Tector Augmentor shoulder armor.

In addition to the added rewards and free battle pass, Cyber Showdown 3 is adding a number of new maps to the game, including one arena-style and six made by community members specifically for husky raid CTF. As seen in the trailer, players can expect to see the following maps when Halo Infinite's third iteration of the limited time Cyber Showdown event arrives on March 5.

  • Elevation (Arena Map)
  • Foundation (Husky Raid)
  • Merchant's Square (Husky Raid)
  • Outlook (Husky Raid)
  • Ruujaya (Husky Raid) - Coming later in this operation
  • Urban Raid (Husky Raid)
  • Pharoah (Husky Raid)

Alongside a new operation, Halo Infinite has been finding new life thanks in large part to its dedicated Forge community. The popular tool has received plenty of updates since it launched, including a recent one in January that expanded the toolkit with features and content for fans to utilize in their creations. The updates have certainly paid off already, as players have created some impressive modes and games using Halo's forge tool, including one custom game inspired by Sony's Helldivers 2.
