After the game's multiplayer was released early last month, the campaign of Halo Infinite has also now released. The multiplayer of Halo Infinite received a largely positive reception, the campaign release has been successful. This year’s campaign has been slightly experimental in nature, featuring an open-world design that has gone over well with Halo fans. This has led to widespread praise and much more interest in this installment's singleplayer offering than the previous two titles.

Along with this open-world setting have been a number of gameplay innovations, including base capturing objectives that have seen Halo Infinite compared to Far Cry. This has also seen a handful of new features introduced to the Halo series that long-term fans have had to get their heads around. One of the new additions to the series has been Valor Points, which have changed the way players may look to approach Halo Infinite’s campaign mode.

Halo Infinite’s New Campaign

halo infinite campaign

The campaign of Halo Infinite offers a level of freedom unmatched by any prior Halo game, with Halo’s new open-world setting allowing players to fight at their own pace. Overall, Halo Infinite’s open-world setting has been one of the more praised aspects of the game to this point. This was a bold direction for the series to head in following the reaction to the singleplayer of Halo 4 and Halo 5, but it seems to have paid off for now. While Halo Infinite’s campaign is certainly a new direction for the franchise, it could shape how the Halo series proceeds from this point forward.

Expectations were cautious for Halo Infinite, not just because of the fan reception to Halo 5, but also because of Halo Infinite’s initial gameplay reveal, which left many concerned. At that point, it seemed as though it would have taken something special to win Halo fans over, and that’s exactly what's happened. Halo Infinite’s campaign brings a number of new ideas to the series, including the open-world setting and things like Halo Infinite’s Grapple Shot. However, one of the more interesting inclusions in this year’s Halo that stemmed from the game’s open-world setting has been Valor, which encourages players to approach Halo in an entirely new way.

What Are Halo Infinite’s Valor Points?

In Halo Infinite, Valor can be earned by completing missions and objectives on the Tac Map. Some of the best ways to earn Valor Points are by destroying Halo Infinite's Banished Propaganda Towers, rescuing USNC squads, and by capturing enemy bases, in a very similar way to how the player would capture bases in Far Cry. These Forward Operating Bases are marked on the map with a red diamond, indicating that they are in enemy hands. As players progress through the campaign they will likely begin to earn Valor Points without even realizing what they did to be rewarded, but they should take note of these rewards.

Valor Points can be used to upgrade to more powerful equipment, weapons, and vehicles in Halo Infinite’s campaign. Halo infinite’s singleplayer campaign, and in particular boss fights, can be quite tricky at times, so players may need these rewards as they progress. Valor Points are a good way to encourage players to take on missions and objectives that they may otherwise skip over, and it’s worth it for Halo players to take the time to earn as many points as they can.

For players who are able to save 3200 Valor Points, the ultimate reward awaits in the Rockethog. This more deadly variation of the Warthog would definitely make capturing bases easier and demonstrates the value of Valor Points if spent correctly. Valor Points can definitely help players turn the tide, especially on the higher difficulties where players need everything they can to defeat the Banished.

Halo Infinite is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
