The single-player campaign for 343 Industries’ Halo Infinite has finally arrived and gamers have quickly begun making discoveries about the full game. One player recently discovered that Halo Infinite's Brutes have some surprisingly detailed internal anatomy in their character models.

In the futuristic universe of Halo, the giant, ape-like species of aliens called the Jiralhanae--known by humans as Brutes--are the most recent members of the Covenant. They don't get along well with the Sangheili and haven't always come out on top in clashes between alien empires. Humans often find the Brutes' physical stature imposing, although the Halo Infinite meme Craig the Brute quickly won people's hearts.

Redditor MrCalabunga shared a short video of themself standing over a defeated Halo Infinite Brute and zooming in and out. The player's proximity to the Brute led to the camera zooming into the prone model's head, where the inside of the mouth can be observed up close. It may be interesting to note that the character model includes teeth, mouth tissue, and even a uvula--although MrCalabunga seems to have incorrectly identified it as tonsils.

The uvula is the soft, fleshy extension that hangs down at the back of the palate, above the throat. Tonsils are also soft tissue found in the mouth, but they are masses found at the side of the throat, just behind the uvula. The primary use of tonsils is as an extension of the immune system, but the uvula has a more practical use: preventing fluids and liquids from going up one's nose. The presence of a uvula in the mouth of a Brute suggests that Brutes and humans may have similar anatomical designs in Halo Infinite.

As of writing, it appears that other Halo Infinite fans are rather confused about this post. Several users pointed out that MrCalabunga had incorrectly identified a uvula as tonsils, which then revealed that many commenters on the post were not sure what tonsils were. One user declared that the game had been delayed a year specifically to add uvulas to the Brute models. Two other users jokingly stated that the lack of uvula physics made the game unplayable. Halo Infinite is now live, so many players will have the opportunity to dig up more odd discoveries in the near future.

Halo Infinite's campaign is now available for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
