Slasher fans have a big reason to get excited now with a new trailer for the upcoming Halloween Ends. The highly-anticipated sequel to 2021's Halloween Kills looks like it's ready to put it all on the line for potentially one final battle. But is it really the end?

Universal just released the first trailer for Halloween Ends, offering a thrilling glimpse at what audiences can expect when the upcoming follow-up finally drops. Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her famous role as the eminent "final girl" Laurie Strode once again as deranged killer Michael Myers continues his unstoppable rampage. But this time, it looks like he may have bitten off more than he can chew.

The trailer teases what appears to be an ultimate confrontation between Laurie and Michael, with shots of the villain stalking Laurie in her house before opening a door to see her sporting a new look while ready and waiting with a gun pointed right at him. As the iconic Halloween theme plays, shots from the new movie are intercut with glimpses of past films before the 2 are shown struggling in a desperate battle. It may seem like something that's been seen plenty of times before in this franchise, but there's a good chance something may be different this time around.

The previous film, Halloween Kills, served as a direct sequel to 2018's Halloween, which itself was meant to be a sequel to the original 1987 film of the same name. This effectively retconned all the other films released in the series over the years, turning this new collection of movies into the canon storyline. The current storyline sees Curtis as Laurie living a reclusive life due to the PTSD caused by Michael Myers' original killing spree, only to team up with her daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) when the menace reappears and begins wreaking havoc once again.

It's no secret that many people have been waiting with bated breath for Halloween Ends after the previous film ended on such a cliffhanger. Some fans believe Halloween Kills wasted the character of Laurie Strode, but that hasn't stopped the hype levels from remaining sky high in the time since its release. Laurie has been there since the beginning, and it's difficult to deny the excitement that comes from seeing Curtis still playing her iconic character after all this time.

Halloween Ends will reportedly conclude the story that began in 2018's Halloween, and it will be the final film in the franchise under Blumhouse. However, that doesn't mean it will be the last Halloween movie. But what about Laurie's story? Will it finally be over as well?

Halloween Ends will release in theaters on October 14th.
