Valve brought Half-Life: Alyx up to version 1.4, and while this update has some new features and fixes that help improve the game, the new addition that has fans talking has nothing to do with the gameplay. The game showed life-like new liquid physics the players can mess around with in virtual reality.

The release of Half-Life: Alyx in March surged the game to the forefront of the Steam store, with the latest installment in the Half-Life franchise bringinh with it an innovation to the VR space. That same innovation continues as the game is updated with impressive, life-like details to the world of Half-Life.

Half-Life: Alyx’s update introduced a feature that added liquid inside bottles. While that doesn’t seem like a big deal, the game also creates amazingly realistic physics that Valve has underlying the liquid’s movement. When a player holds a bottle and shakes it, the liquid moves as if the person was holding the bottle in real life, flowing with more fluidity than some other games’ controls have in the virtual reality landscape. These details may seem small in the grand scheme of things, but they really enhance the game’s virtual reality experience that they were created for.

Other features that were added in this update include new language subtitles so the game can reach a wider audience. A bug that would leave save files corrupted if the game was closed via SteamVR was also fixed on this update. Valve also included more workshop features that would allow players to create their own mods for the game, which has already received a lot of attention from more inventive users. Some of these new workshop features include more map models in SFM, additional meshes for prefab parked vehicles.

Not only are these virtual reality physics fascinating for players to experience, but they also speak to the capability of Half-Life: Alyx. Players who take advantage of the game’s workshop features have an incredible canvas to work with. Even though the game’s workshop has not even been available for two weeks, people have already been creating some amazing mods that have made their way around online.
