Hailee Steinfeld offered a cryptic response to questions about Kate Bishop and her future in the MCU after Hawkeye. The young star also commented on Jeremy Renner's snow plot accident from the beginning of the year.Hawkeye introduced Steinfeld's Kate Bishop as a protege of Renner's Clint Barton, who helped the young archer defeat the gangsters she becomes embroiled with after she's mistaken for Ronin, the alter-ego Barton assumed to murder criminals. Because Kate Bishop takes over the Hawkeye mantle in the comics, many fans thought the same would happen with Steinfeld's character. However, the Hawkeye series ended with Clint Barton keeping the title and presumably taking Bishop on as a partner, though her next appearance in the MCU has yet to be announced.RELATED: MCU: Why Are So Many Costumes Nanomachines Now?While promoting Gwen Stacy's return in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse at CinemaCon, Steinfeld was interviewed by Entertainment Tonight. First, Steinfeld outlined how Kate Bishop and Gwen Stacy would get along if they met on the screen. During the conversation, Steinfeld was asked if she knew when fans will see Kate Bishop again. In response, Steinfeld smiled coyly and said, "Maybe."

Renner sustained critical injuries in a snow plow accident at the beginning of the year. The actor is now recovering, and Steinfeld confirmed to ET that she's spoken to him since the accident. After noting that she is grateful Renner is making a "truly miraculous recovery," Steinfeld likened her relationship with Renner to the relationship between Hawkeye and Kate Bishop. "I mean, I go back to thinking about how excited I was just to meet him, and then I realized very quickly -- I can't believe I'm going to admit this, but much like Kate Bishop is to Clint, I am that way with Jeremy," she explained. "I just couldn't be more grateful that he's OK, and he's more than OK. He's such a fighter."

As for the future of Kate Bishop? It's unclear if Steinfeld was intentionally playing coy or if she truly has no information on Kate Bishop's next MCU appearance. Of course, fans speculate Kate Bishop could play a key role in a Young Avengers project, as most of Marvel Studios' Disney Plus shows have introduced team members from the comics. However, Ant-Man 3 producer Stephen Broussard previously said a Young Avengers project is not being planned, so fans must keep guessing about Kate Bishop's long-awaited return.

Hawkeye is now available on Disney Plus.
