Hades isn't just a game about endlessly killing monsters, defeating difficult bosses, and trying to go into the overworld. It's actually a nuanced story that is slowly told over multiple runs. The characters in the game have personalities, and the game makes sure the player finds that out.

One way to interact with these characters is by giving them Nectar as a gift. Doing so increases their affinity with Zagreus, and makes them more attracted to the player. They reveal more about themselves and the world as they are gifted more nectar, and certain characters can be wooed as well, given the appropriate actions are taken. Obtaining nectar is difficult, but not impossible. Here's how to get as much of it as possible from each run.

How To Farm Nectar

how to use nectar

Nectar is one of the more scarce resources in the game. It can only be obtained one at a time, and can only be gifted once per run to each character. Players obtain nectar either through trading with the Wretched Broker or through chamber rewards. There are many ways to farm items in Hades, but not a lot to farm Nectar. Nevertheless, players can do certain actions to maximize the chance of getting a high yield of nectar from their runs.

  • Boons: The main boon that players want for this run is Premium Vintage from Dionysus. To obtain it, they should equip the Overflowing Cup to ensure Dionysus is one of the Olympians helping the player in their run.
  • Fishing:Fish caught in Elysium will give the player nectar when traded with the Head Chef in the House of Hades.

Players will need the Rod of Fishing upgrade from the House Contractor to be able to catch fish in the underworld.

  • Mirror of the Night: To maximize the amount of blue laurel rewards that spawn, swap Dark Foresight out of the rotation. Furthermore, players should upgrade Fated Authority as high as possible so they can re-roll a resource reward as needed for nectar.
  • Wretched Broker: If players cannot find a lot of Nectar on their runs, they can adopt a strategy to farm darkness or gems, and exchange them for nectar with the Wretched Broker.
