Striving to help the Olympians and fight Chronos on the territory of Olympus, Hades 2 players will have to make dozens of runs in search of materials, and one of the key obstacles in their way will be the barriers blocking the path to Olympus. Magic or physical force will not be able to destroy these obstacles; instead, you will have to create a Permeation of Witching-Wards incantation, which requires three ingredients.
Finding Cinder and Moly won't take long, but getting Shadow in Hades 2 will require you to use the Cauldron and farm some materials. Additionally, the recipe for Shadow is not immediately available and requires some prerequisites to be met before it can be unlocked.
Hades 2: How To Get Pearl
Before players can get a Pearl in Hades 2, they must get through the second stage and beat one of the game's most unique boss fights.
How To Get Shadow In Hades 2
The only way to obtain Shadow in Hades 2 is through the Shadow Extraction alchemical ritual, which can be performed by placing three ingredients in the Cauldron. However, the recipe for this material is not available at the beginning. Instead, you will have to do several runs before Hecate asks for your help in saving Olympus and tells you about the recipe. After this, you can find the Shadow Extraction recipe in the Cauldron's Alchemy tab:
- x30 Psyche. You can obtain this ingredient by completing encounters in Erebus or trading with the Wretched Broker. Alternatively, you can farm this resource using the Tablet of Peace on Lost Shades, which live in different places of Erebus.
- x30 Ash. Like the previous resource, you can farm Ash by trading with the Wretched Broker or completing encounters in Erebus.
- x30 Fate Fabric. As for this material, you can obtain it exclusively by trading with the Wretched Broker.

How To Unlock The Wretched Broker In Hades 2
Since you can purchase all the ingredients for the Shadow Extraction alchemical ritual from the Wretched Broker, it is worth noting how to unlock and trade with this NPC. Like almost everything in Hades 2, this character does not appear initially and requires a specific ritual before coming to the game world. More specifically, you must die at least once and visit the Crossroads a second time. After this, check the Cauldron and perform the Summoning of the Mercantile Fortune ritual that requires 10 Bones to activate.
After completing the ritual, you can meet the Wretched Broker south of the Cauldron and buy many materials, including all the reagents for brewing Shadow. For this, you will need some Bones, which is a pretty low cost considering that Bones drops after almost every encounter.
