Guy Fieri, the self-proclaimed Mayor of Flavortown, is having a sale for Cyber Monday and is enlisting the help of Cyberpunk 2077. Though not an official endorsement of the man behind "Donkey Sauce," the image invokes a clever play on words by turning Cyberpunk 2077 into "Cyber Monday 2021."
The image comes courtesy of Guy Fieri's official Twitter account. In it, the popular chef is advertising a sale for his site that includes a chance at a Funko Pop signed by the man himself.
While some, including those on Guy's promo team, may find the ad clever, it might be a little too niche for his fanbase. That being said, Guy Fieri has shared a video game reference. The advertisement shows the iconic male V model with several more family-friendly changes. The first is Guy's face has been superimposed on the picture. He's all smiles despite the indication on his face that he's been cybernetically enhanced. Rather than holding a pistol, Guy is holding a Flavortown hat. Throw in an "F for Flavortown" rating and it would appear that "Cyber Monday 2021" has the seal of approval from the Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives host.
Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most anticipated games of 2020 but failed to deliver due to a litany of bugs, delays, and its virtually unplayable state on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Since then, the developer, CD Projekt Red, has been working around the clock to squash bugs and improve playability on last-gen consoles. This work eventually saw the title returned to the PlayStation Store and thanks to the most recent Black Friday sale, a fresh influx of positive reviews.
CD Projekt Red has laid out plans for continuing to address issues with Cyberpunk 2077 and current-gen versions while prepping for an upcoming expansion. As of right now, there is no word when the next expansion will be released or what it might contain. There are those that think it may be too late for CD Projekt Red to salvage the game, but a staunch base still holds hope that it will be redeemed.
Until that happens, players will be left to ponder what kind of V Guy Fieri plays. Is he a stealthy hacker? Or is he a cybernetically enhanced bruiser? Perhaps he's doing a pacifist run while sampling all the fine and questionable foods Night City has to offer. Like all the great mysteries of the world, there may never be a clear answer.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5, and Xbox Series X/S versions in development.
