Even though most players enjoy simple "shoot 'em up" games, some gamers enjoy sophisticated FPS games that allow players to customize their characters with skills and weapons. Gunfire Reborn is a fun yet difficult FPS that gamers enjoy playing since it has a wide array of enemies, weapons, and heroes to choose from. But, players that wish to reach the end of a match will need to carefully think about what Ascension skills and weapons to use, especially since enemies become increasingly difficult to beat.

While Qing Yan isn't the most popular hero in Gunfire Reborn, he does offer players a unique set of skills that make him stand out from the rest. Players who want to challenge themselves by using Qing Yan will want to ensure they use the right skills and weapons.

Qing Yan's Main Role

Qing Yau Gunfire Reborn

Unlike other heroes, Qing Yan excels in closer-quarter combat since he specializes in Shotguns, and his abilities are melee-based. Qing Yan doesn't use a Shield, but has Armor that players can only replenish while nearby enemies. That means long-ranged weapons like Sniper Rifles or even Assault Rifles aren't viable to use with Qing Yan.

This melee-based hero has two abilities: Leap and Cleave. Leap allows players to jump (some Occult Scrolls may increase jump distance) toward a group of enemies, causing them to stagger. Cleave is a melee attack that affects enemies within a 7m radius.

Bruiser Build

Since melee-based damage is Qing Yan's strong point, players will want to use it fully. That means players don't have to worry about getting a gun with an elemental attachment. This build focuses on maxing out the damage potential of Qing Yan's skills (Leap and Cleave). These skills will be the main source of damage and will also allow Qing Yan to replenish his Armor.

Weapons to Use

Gunfire Reborn Qing Yan Weapon Choice

As players can expect, Qing Yan excels at using Shotguns and Melee weapons due to his close-quarter combat playstyle. Fortunately, several Shotguns and Melee Weapons are considered top-tier in the Gunfire Reborn community. But, the only time players will fire (or swing) their weapon is whenever Qing Yan's abilities are on cooldown, so players shouldn't worry too much about getting the perfect weapon.

The best Shotgun Qing Yan can use is the Wild Hunt because it has one of the highest RoF (Rate of Fire) for Shotguns, even higher than some Assault Rifles. The only issue with this Shotgun is its low ammo capacity, leading to frequent reloads.

Flowing Light is among the best melee weapons players can use with Qing Yan. Its Weapon Skill shoots an arc of energy that can damage several enemies, even those behind cover.

Ascensions to Use

Gunfire Reborn Qing Yan Ascension Build

Ascensions are the only way Qing Yan can reach his full potential, aside from Occult Scrolls that can dramatically boost a hero's power. Players will want to primarily focus on maxing out Ascension skills that buff Leap and Cleave. These buffs affect the damage and grant Qing Yan additional protection, meaning they are critical for players that want to win.

  • Continuous Strike: As players can expect, landing a Leap attack isn't always as easy as it seems. This Ascension Skill reduces Leap's cooldown if no enemy is hit by it.
  • Gigantic Explosion: This skill transforms Leap into a powerful AOE bomb that makes clearing enemies less of a struggle. Additionally, maxing out this skill reduces Leap's cooldown by 60%.
  • Steel Armor: Reduces damage taken by 50% for 3 seconds after using Leap. Players can get this skill if they feel that Qing Yan is taken too much damage.
  • Iron Scud: A must-have survival skill for Qing Yan since it allows him to recover Armor for every enemy he hits. On top of that, there's 25% chance to become Invincible for 0.5s. This may not seem like much, but it can come in handy in later stages of the game.
  • Nova Shockwave: Increases Armor for every enemy killed by 15 for 10 seconds. Furthermore, whenever Armor breaks, it releases a powerful explosion.
  • Absolute Advantage: Increases the range of Cleave plus deals additional damage the more enemies hit by it.
  • Fierce Wings: Increases Cleave's Base Damage and increases the next shot/slash damage after Cleave ends.
  • Defensive Cleave: Enemies killed by Cleave restore Armor and reduces Leap's cool down. This skill paired with Gigantic Explosion will allow players to constantly Leap at enemies.

Qing Yan Gameplay Tips

Gunfire Reborn Qing Yan Gameplay

Qing Yan isn't the easiest hero to use in Gunfire Reborn, meaning it'll take some time to master him. The best way to play Bruiser Qing Yan is by constantly being on top of enemies since it's the only way players can dish out damage. But, of course, players still need to play it safe since Qing Yan's Armor doesn't replenish automatically.

Some enemies (such as Rogue Arsonist and Horsehead) will be quite annoying to fight since they have shields and melee weapons that can seriously damage Qing Yan. The best tactic against shielded enemies is to try to Leap behind them and Cleave or shoot them with a Shotgun. Boss fights will also be challenging for Qing Yan players, but can be done with patience and a good teammate like Ao Bai or Li.

Gunfire Reborn is available now for PC, iOS, Android, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
