Gundam Evolution, a 5v5 Hero Shooter made by Bandai Namco, is quite an attention-demanding online experience. The time-to-kill in this game is extremely low and battles require as much precision as possible in an instant.

Because of this, it's extremely important that players be on the proper server for their location and latency for the best overall experience. So, let's go over how exactly players are meant to change servers in Gundam Evolution, as it can be easy to miss

How To Change Servers

Gundam Evolution - Highlighting Where The Region Option Is

Now, contrary to what one might think, the Server Change option isn't found on the main hub screen or even in the settings menu. Rather, players will have to make sure and do this as the "Press Button to Start" intro screen that comes up first after launching the game. If they miss it, they'll have to relaunch the game entirely to circle back to this menu.

In the intro screen, there's an option up there at the top right that says "Matching Area" with a drop-down box. Click the drop-down and select the closest region of choice for the most stable connection. There are only four options at the moment between Japan, North America, Asia, and Europe.

Why You Would Want To Change Servers

Outside of the obvious reason for changing servers in that it only makes sense to choose the server closest to where one lives, there are a couple of other reasons to do so.

For one, this game is pretty chaotic and mechanically busy by design. No matter what map or objective, players will find themselves constantly in the heat of battle and having to react as quickly as possible to the situation at hand.

Whether this is expressed through being hit from multiple directions, getting Stunned, aiming for specific enemy Units, or even just dashing out of a G-Manuever, there's a lot to react to. Because of this, players need a connection that responds to their actions as close to instantly as possible, which is where the server choice comes in.

Two, players might find that they have better matches against players in different regions. For example, a player might find that their connection is fine on the Japan server and also that the games they play on this server are much closer to their preferred skill level, beginner or veteran, than on the North American server that's closer to them.

And the third and final reason is that a Gundam Evolution player may live in an area that's relatively in between all four server locations, and they need to switch servers to test to see which one works best for them. In any situation, it's relatively simple to do so in this game, it's just easy to miss the option if the player doesn't know where it is.
