Since making their big-screen debut inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Guardians of the Galaxy continues to draw audiences to its strange corner of the Marvel universe across all mediums. Eidos Montreal and Square Enix haven't been shy about teasing this for the titular game, whether it's interactions with Nova Corps' Worldmind or the muscle-for-hire Blood Brothers. The list appears to be growing as the studios have given players a tease for one of Marvel's most important cosmic characters.

Square Enix's Guardians of the Galaxy follows Star-Lord, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Groot, and Rocket Raccoon as they traverse the galaxy several years after a massive intergalactic war. After being hired for a job, the team causes an accident that quickly spirals into a series of events threatening the galaxy's safety. This puts the team in the crosshairs of the Church of Universal Truth, the Nova Corps, and others, as the Guardians try to put things right and save the galaxy.

While Square Enix and Eidos Montreal have teased several characters and groups for the game, the launch trailer may contain one of the biggest teases yet in the form of Adam Warlock. The man believed to be Warlock appears at the end of the trailer with his trademark glowing eyes and seems to be in hiding. He then inquires about the Church of Universal Truth's activity, mentioning how it found a "new flock" to follow it.

Adam Warlock made his Marvel Comics debut in 1967 in Fantastic Four but was known only as Him before he was given his name in 1972. A creation of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Warlock is an artificial human who has traveled the galaxy for decades and weaved in and out of some of Marvel Comics' biggest storylines. He is best known for his role in 1991's The Infinity Gauntlet, where he led the remaining heroes against Thanos and, later, Nebula after the former killed half the beings in the galaxy with the gauntlet.

The tease is also timely as it comes on the heels of Marvel Studios confirming Adam Warlock's big-screen debut in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. He was first teased in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's mid-credit scene, with this version being a creation of the Sovereign to seek revenge on the team for stealing from the genetically engineered race. It was confirmed Will Poulter was cast to play the character.

Guardians of the Galaxy will release on October 26, 2021, on GeForce Now, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
