The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Disney Plus release date was announced by Marvel Studios.The latest phase of Marvel projects has been inconsistent. Many recent MCU movies and show disappointed fans, but Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 shows why Marvel Studios is not going anywhere. The film is still in theaters and has been for 10 weeks now. In addition to receiving rave reviews from critics and fans, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 also dominated the box office with $358 million at the domestic box office and grossing $842 million worldwide.Marvel Studios announced Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be released on Disney Plus on August 2nd, 2023. Marvel fans with a Disney Plus subscription should be excited, as they won’t have to wait too long to watch the film on the platform. Additionally, this release date is the day after the film will come out on Blu-Ray, which hits stores on August 1st. The film has been out digitally since July 7th. It has not been announced whether the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 deleted scenes and bonus features will be exclusive to digital and Blu-Ray or if they will appear on Disney Plus.
Along with the announcement, Marvel Studios released a teaser trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's Disney Plus release date. The trailer shows a short culmination of the trilogy and says that “the guardians are coming home.” On August 2nd, Guardians fans can watch the full trilogy all in one place and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which does have some information needed when watching the third film.
The first Guardians of the Galaxy movie became the cornerstone for the MCU movies that came after. MCU Projects have tried to duplicate what made the first film great by balancing action and humor with varying success. Some fans have said that this has made films formulaic and holds them back from being truly great. However, with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s critical and financial success, the franchise could once again help steer the MCU in the right direction.
Overall, the final Guardians of the Galaxy movie was good and worth a watch for fans with a Disney Plus subscription. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 received a 3.5-star review from Game ZXC, calling it "imperfect" but saying, “the care and love that Gunn has for these characters and their story is obvious from the jump.”
