The upcoming Grand Theft Auto Online update is finally bringing animals to the game, as well as several other improvements and a new type of mission called Vehicle Robberies. GTA Online has frequent updates, but this one seems to be among the most important ones recently, as it finally brings a feature that many fans have wanted for a long time: wildlife.
While it was previously possible to turn into an animal in GTA Online by using Peyote Plants when they were available, the lack of wildlife in Freemode was quite puzzling to many gamers. GTA 5 was the first game in the franchise to employ animals in significant ways, having extensive wildlife, hunting missions for Trevor, and animals as significant characters. An example of that would be Lamar’s dog Chop, which was featured in some of the main missions.

Now, Rockstar has announced the upcoming December update for Grand Theft Auto Online, confirming several exciting features. Long-time players will be glad to know that starting with the update, animals will be roaming free in San Andreas. Also, there’s a new kind of mission coming up, called Vehicle Robberies. These missions will allow players to work for the GTA 4: The Ballad of Gay Tony character Yusuf Amir stealing imported vehicles during high-stakes robberies. To unlock these missions, the players will need to purchase Red’s Auto Parts, a salvage yard. Another important change is the introduction of the new Drift Races Series, as well as drift modifications for cars, which will be available at the LS Car Meet.

Animals, drifting, and new missions are not everything that the new update is bringing to Grand Theft Auto Online, though. The Vinewood Club Garage will be available for GTA+ subscription members which holds 100 vehicles and will be very useful for gamers who race in GTA Online. Other new features include a much more streamlined Interaction menu, more organized ways to manage vehicles on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, birthday gifts for characters on their birthdays, new cosmetics like the Rockstar Games 25th Anniversary in-game apparel, and other minor improvements.
It looks like December will be a huge month for GTA fans. Not only will Grand Theft Auto Online gamers gain access to these updates, but there’s the GTA 6 trailer coming up sometime during the month. Not much has been confirmed about the upcoming Rockstar game so far, but there are several theories about it that will either be proven or denied after the official trailer, such as who are the game’s protagonists and where the story will be set.
