Rockstar Games reports issues with the migration of Grand Theft Auto Online accounts from previous platforms, to the long-awaited PlayStation 5 edition. The migration issue affected all platforms but is now mainly causing PC players problems. In a tweet from Rockstar Games Support, the developer detailed issues with the migration of Grand Theft Auto Online player accounts on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One that had previously migrated their accounts to PC. It appears that those issues have now been resolved, but there is still a major issue that prevents players from migrating their accounts from PC to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.RELATED: GTA 5 Load Times Are Twice as Fast on PS5 Compared to PS4The migration issue affecting PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players that had previously migrated their accounts to PC was resolved just hours before the game launched on March 15th, 2022. At the time of writing, players that can migrate their accounts are players moving from PlayStation 4 and Xbox One to PlayStation 5 and Xbox One with a one-time migration process. Grand Theft Auto Online players on PC cannot migrate to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rockstar Games has also warned that some other players' profiles will be ineligible for migration if they have suspended or banned accounts, or players that have "illegitimate or insufficient progress."

PC players now face a difficult decision whether they should hold out until Rockstar release a fix for the problem or start anew on a next-gen console and lose the cash, weapons, vehicles, clothing, and properties that they have accumulated over their playtime not to mention any player-created jobs they may have crafted.

PC players who were hoping to make the jump in time for the PlayStation 5 free week play trial look like they're going to miss out and will be sorely disappointed with Rockstar Games' launch fumble. Sony has offered gamers who install Grand Theft Auto 5 a free week's access to its subscription service PS Plus, providing they aren't already a subscriber.

Players on all platforms have been reminded that any unspent purchased GTA dollars cannot be transferred from one platform to another, meaning anyone wanting to make the jump from Xbox to PlayStation, or vice versa, will have to leave those funds behind.

Grand Theft Auto Online is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S
