Highlights

  • Grand Theft Auto Online celebrates its 10-year anniversary this October and still maintains a large and active player base thanks to regular updates.
  • The game offers a wide range of vehicles, including over 762 options, with motorcycles being a popular choice among players.
  • The Western Reever is currently considered the fastest motorcycle in GTA Online, with a top speed of 163 mph when utilizing an exploit, but the Apocalypse Deathbike is a legitimate speed demon with a maximum speed of around 150 mph.

It's almost hard to believe that Grand Theft Auto Online turns ten years old this October. While the game is starting to show its age, it still enjoys a large and active player base. This is mainly due to Rockstar releasing regular updates to Grand Theft Auto Online. The game's post-launch updates include a wide range of content, though new vehicles have been a significant part of most expansions.

However, the continually expanding pool of vehicles can make it a bit hard to choose their ride. GTA Online features over 762 vehicles covering everything from cars and trucks to boats, planes, helicopters, and even trains. Limiting the topic to motorcycles still leaves a lot of options, with 64 different bikes to choose from if one includes all the special variants. However, while GTA Online's best motorcycle will depend on the situation, there are times when speed is all that matters. In those cases, it's handy to know which bike in GTA Online is the fastest.

The Fastest Motorcycle in GTA Online (Using Exploits)

Grand Theft Auto Online Reever

When talking about the fastest motorcycle in GTA Online, many people will point to the Western Reever, which Rockstar added in December 2021's The Contract update. Partially inspired by ARCH Nazare from Cyberpunk 2077, the bike's popularity is due to its purported top speed of 163 mph, which blows all other bikes out of the water. However, some significant qualifiers must be made before declaring the Reever the fastest bike in GTA Online.

The stock Reever has a maximum speed of around 94 mph off the shelf, and purchasing all its upgrades boosts that to about 124 mph. Finally, an exploit allows GTA Online players to push it up to 163 mph while doing a wheelie. Rockstar never patched the glitch that makes this exploit possible, but there is always the potential the developer might decide to at some point. Then again, that gets less likely the more time passes. Either way, the Western Reever is technically the fastest bike in Grand Theft Auto Online, at least for now.

Unfortunately, speed does not come cheap in GTA Online. The Reever costs $1,900,000 from in-game retailer Legendary Motorsport. The four levels of engine upgrades are another $73,000 for a grand total of $1,973,000.

The Fastest Motorcycle in GTA Online (Without Exploits)

Grand Theft Auto Online Apocalypse Deathbike

Of course, not everyone likes using exploits or wants to spend all their time doing wheelies. Those who want a more legitimate speed demon might instead turn their attention to the Apocalypse Deathbike. Believed to have been inspired by Daryl's modified Honda Nighthawk from The Walking Dead, it was introduced by GTA Online's 2018 Arena War update. This custom offroad bike is a version of the game's Western Gargoyle overhauled for vehicular combat. It boasts a blistering maximum speed of around 150 mph when fully upgraded. This not only makes the Apocalypse Deathbike the fastest motorcycle in Grand Theft Auto Online but the fastest ground vehicle as well.

As with the Reever, GTA Online's Apocalypse Deathbike is not exactly a budget motorcycle. Players first need access to the Arena Workshop, a purchasable property that runs from $995,000 to $4,365,000. They must then acquire a Gargoyle for $120,000 and purchase the $1,269,000 conversion. The engine upgrades tack on an additional $73,000. Altogether, that's $1,462,000, not counting the cost of the Workshop. Still, that's the price GTA Online players will have to pay to reliably leave their rivals in the dust.

It's also worth acknowledging a few runners-up that didn't quite make it to first. The futuristic Pegassi Oppressor maxes out at 140 mph, though it will set players back a cool $3,524,500. The Maibatsu Manchez Scout achieves a similar 139.75 mph at a cost of $225,000, and the Nagasaki BF400 can hit 137 mph while selling for only $95,000. Finally, speed freaks on a budget might consider the Pegassi Bati 801 or 801RR, which cost only $15,000 and offer a top speed of 135 mph.

Grand Theft Auto Online is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and legacy consoles.
