Highlights

  • Grand Theft Auto features odd and entertaining weapons like the ElectroGun, a futuristic pistol that shoots electricity, adding to the arcadey nature of the game.
  • GTA Online offers wacky weapons such as the Up-n-Atomizer, which fires a powerful beam that adds a fun and engaging element to firefights.
  • In GTA: San Andreas , players can use a Spray Can to both cover gang graffiti and as a slow, but humiliating weapon, although it is not recommended against enemies with firearms due to its limited range.

There are many things that Grand Theft Auto tries to parody, with the easily available weapons in these games being a scathing commentary on the prevalence of guns and how easy they are to obtain in America. That being said, most people would argue that the weapons in Grand Theft Auto themselves are fairly by the numbers, barring a few over-the-top additions... but that isn't completely true.

The Best Games Like GTAV's Heist Series

Grand Theft Auto Online heists are so fun that many players wish they would never end. With other heist games like these, the good times never do!

While a lot of the current Grand Theft Auto games are grounded in reality, there were moments when Rockstar wasn't afraid to lean into the silly side of their gameplay. This led to the creation of many odd weapons that players would find hilarious to use in their respective games, and understandably so!

5 ElectroGun

ElectroGun in GTA 2

The ElectroGun is one of the oddest weapons in the series. This futuristic pistol unleashes a ray of electricity that attacks everything in range and is about as ridiculous as players would expect. Given the arcadey nature of the first two Grand Theft Auto games, it's easy to see why the ElectroGun fit perfectly within the setting of these games and made for a pretty satisfying firearm to use.

Although now primarily known by the GTA and Red Dead Redemption franchises, Rockstar's earliest games offered players an eclectic mix of fun.

The fact that this weapon shoots its electricity in an arc makes it perfect for groups of enemies standing relatively close to the player. The ElectroGun can be pretty unpredictable to use at times... but that's precisely what makes it such an entertaining weapon in the eyes of many fans.

4 Up-n-Atomizer

Up-n-Atomizer in GTA Online

GTA Online has become all the rage, with players loving the idea of living a virtual life that is laden with over-the-top heists, a high volume of crime, and an economy that encourages people to earn as much cash as possible while engaging with the wealth of content present in this game. It may seem like a huge time-sink to get into this game, but players who give this mode a chance will understand why Rockstar absolutely loves this mode to kingdom come.

There are many wacky weapons that have been added to this game via updates, and the Up-n-Atomizer is one such weapon that is pretty unique. It fires an otherworldly beam that hits for major damage and can hit for serious damage, even if there are other weapons that are more practical. However, the wacky nature of this raygun is what makes it so engaging to use in a firefight.

3 Spray Can

Spray Can in GTA San Andreas

Gang culture plays a huge role in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, with players having to wage wars and engage in missions as a member of the GSF as they fight against the Ballas and other such gangs scattered across the streets of Los Santos. There are many activities that players can engage in to prove themselves as a loyal member of the GSF, and spraying over gang graffiti is a pretty easy way to do so. There are many tags present all across the city that players can find and paint over to make for a decent side activity that players can spend their time on.

The Spray Can also doubles as a decent if somewhat slow weapon that players can use to slowly suffocate their enemies to death. It's a rather humiliating way to kill someone, although using it on someone with a powerful weapon or any kind of firearm is not recommended because of the low range of the weapon. Some enemies can also stop coughing to unleash an attack, and groups of enemies will mow down CJ in no time flat if he's stupid enough to bring a Spray Can to a gunfight.

2 Unholy Hellbringer

Worst GTA Online weapons that players should skip - Unholy Hellbringer

There are many unique weapons that players can mess around with in GTA Online, with the Unholy Hellbringer being one such firearm that can do a great job of letting players bring out the more wacky moments present in this mode. It's a gun with pretty much unlimited ammunition as players can unleash a rapid volley of bullets on their enemies and incapacitate them in no time at all.

The Unholy Hellbringer may not be the most accurate gun around or support any attachments, but the 9999 ammunition limit ensures that players never have to reload while firing this weapon. It's a great automatic plasma rifle that players can whip out in a wild firefight to unleash a world of hurt upon their enemies.

1 Flowers

Flowers in GTA San Andreas

GTA: San Andreas is home to some raunchy gifts, but a rather regular gift makes the list as a weapon that a boyfriend could realistically give to their girlfriend... or, in this case, girlfriends. CJ can go down the classic route and give his SO a bouquet of flowers to make for a safe and effective gift that increases his partner's relationship meter to a small extent.

Oddly enough, using flowers as a weapon is slightly more effective than hitting with a regular fist, which makes no sense. Of course, this doesn't take away from the hilarity of knocking out a person and punching them brutally with a pair of lilies, which is ridiculous and completely on-brand with the many silly things players can accomplish in San Andreas. Equipping the bouquet of flowers also raises CJ's sex appeal temporarily, although the increase is pretty minor and not worth permanently equipping this weapon whenever players wish to seduce someone.
