A new rumor making the rounds online suggests Grand Theft Auto 6 will retail for $150, which is more than double the price of most modern games. Fans have been waiting over a decade for Grand Theft Auto 6, and it's safe to say that the game is going to be an absolutely massive release whenever it does finally hit store shelves. Grand Theft Auto 5 is one of the most successful entertainment products of all time after all, and so chances are good GTA 6 will at least match it if not surpass it.

The wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 has been an excruciating one for fans of the franchise. GTA games used to release with a lot more regularity, but as previously mentioned, it's been over 10 years since Grand Theft Auto 5 hit the market. Rockstar has tried to tide fans over in the meantime by re-releasing Grand Theft Auto 5 on newer platforms with more features and with the ill-advised Grand Theft Auto Trilogy, but many are still growing anxious to play GTA 6.

It remains to be seen when Grand Theft Auto fans will get to play GTA 6, but a new rumor suggests they could be paying around $150 for the new game. This rumor stems from a report by Niche Gamer, which also says that the Grand Theft Auto 6 budget is somewhere in the $1 to $2 billion region. None of this information has been confirmed by Take-Two or Rockstar Games, and so fans should take this rumor with a massive grain of salt. While it's not impossible that Take-Two would release Grand Theft Auto 6 at such a super high price, it seems highly unlikely. There could be special versions of GTA 6 that cost $150 or more, however.

Fans shouldn't get too worked up about this rumor or the potential Grand Theft Auto 6 price point until they have official information on the matter from Rockstar Games. Other rumors claim that Grand Theft Auto 6 could be revealed in the relatively near future, and if true, perhaps some clarification on this matter will come. But just as fans should treat this rumor about GTA 6's price with skepticism, they should act the same about all other rumors surrounding the highly-anticipated open world game.

Other rumors still have said that GTA 6 might feature Joe Rogan and that the game is going to launch in October of next year. But none of this has been substantiated by any official sources. Hopefully official info on Grand Theft Auto 6 comes sooner rather than later to address these rumors and put some of them to rest.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is in development.
