Highlights

  • The rumored introduction of a character who is a mother in GTA 6 could bring deeper and more complex emotions into the crime-driven world of Grand Theft Auto.
  • The inclusion of a child in the story would break with tradition for the franchise, but could lead to a more emotional and compelling narrative.
  • The perspective and actions of the female protagonist, Lucia, could add a fresh and different dynamic to GTA 6, potentially exploring the challenges of a mother committing crimes for the sake of her child.

The most recent GTA 6 rumors about Lucia could open the door for Rockstar to bring in a great storytelling device from Red Dead Redemption. There have been plenty of rumors and leaks about GTA 6, but the most recent one suggesting that Lucia could have a child would be a perfect opportunity for Rockstar to bring deeper and more complex emotions into the crime-driven world of Grand Theft Auto.

Rockstar has brought to life many great games, but the Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption franchises are some of the best in the studio's roster. Both games have provided incredible, industry-defining open-world experiences, but Red Dead Redemption deals with a lot of emotional layers that Grand Theft Auto oftentimes lacks. Although Grand Theft Auto is known for its crass and shocking humor, GTA 6 introducing a character who's a mother would be a new chapter for the franchise, and one particular sequence in Red Dead Redemption could be a perfect blueprint for how GTA 6 handles this character.

Lucia's Rumored Baby Could Mirror a Big Red Dead Redemption Moment

One of the most memorable moments from Red Dead Redemption happens in the game's epilogue when players get to step into the shoes of a grown Jack Marston, John Marston's son, as he avenges the death of his father. After all the time spent playing as John and watching Jack grow as a character throughout the story, stepping into the shoes of Jack years later is an emotionally rich moment that remains one of the best in all the Red Dead Redemption games. The epilogue as Jack Marston is a bittersweet close to the game's story, and GTA 6 could find itself in a similar boat.

If the rumors are true, Lucia could have a baby that she abandons at a deli in a flashback. Of course, GTA 6 rumors should be taken lightly, but if the leak turns out to be true, it would mean new waters for GTA 6 to tread. The Grand Theft Auto franchise has never involved young children in its stories, so not only would this be breaking a tradition in the series, but it would also plant the seeds for a more emotional story that hasn't been explored yet in a Grand Theft Auto game. If Lucia has a child that she abandons or reconnects with, diving into their relationship would be incredibly compelling.

Lucia marks the first time Grand Theft Auto has used a female protagonist, and this means GTA 6 could be a very different game compared to the others simply because of all the possibilities her perspective and personality could add to the story. A mother needing to commit crimes in order to support her child and survive would be a gripping story to watch unfold, and since protagonists Lucia and Jason are rumored to be inspired by Bonnie and Clyde, their fates may not be a happy ending. If Jason and Lucia meet a sad end, the story of GTA 6 could follow Lucia's child in the aftermath of her death in the same way Red Dead Redemption handles Jack in John Marston's story.

Although details will remain murky until the official trailer launches in early December, GTA 6 has the potential to be a fresh start for the Grand Theft Auto franchise. There are high expectations for GTA 6, and a more emotional approach to the game's story could be an incredible change. Thanks to the heart-wrenching stories in Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2, it's already known that Rockstar knows how to write a good tear-jerker, and it would be amazing to see that brought to life in GTA 6.
