With the enormous success of GTA 5, fans are crossing their fingers that Rockstar is getting ready to divulge more information about the long-awaited follow-up. The sixth installment has allegedly been in development for years now, and people are waiting to learn when they'll be able to get their hands on it.Many will recall the incident last year when footage from an early build of GTA 6 was leaked online, resulting in the alleged hacker being arrested following an FBI investigation. This was the closest fans got to seeing the next Grand Theft Auto game, even though it seemed clear to many that it wasn't in a state that could be deemed close to finished. As such, some may be concerned that there's still a long time to wait until the next game in Rockstar's iconic franchise hits digital storefronts, while others think the release date could be closer than expected.As seen by Games Radar, a few fans have been investigating the minutiae of Grand Theft Auto 6 and have concluded that the game is in the final stages of development and Rockstar is now working on bug fixes and polishing the finished product. This comes from a recent post from Twitter account NEWSLEAKSGTAS, which uploaded a couple of screenshots from fans who have been analyzing tags on leaked videos. Known insider Tez2 revealed the system specs running different builds of the game, saying that the "bankrelease" version is one that aims to reach "feature complete," while the "beta" build is more for "content complete." According to some, the former implies "full UI functionality," while the latter could suggest the studio has "finished" making the game. One user, who says they are a developer, supports this theory and believes Rockstar may also be preparing official trailers and just "awaiting [the] go signal."
Of course, these are just speculations and should not be taken as proof that the game is coming soon, but it is an interesting theory. Ever since Rockstar confirmed Grand Theft Auto 6 last February, fans have been diving into any information they can find to see if there are any clues to the game's final release date.
There have been a slew of GTA 6 hints so far, including Rockstar rolling the official credits for Grand Theft Auto 5 on the game's website, as well as posting a holiday message that fans were keen to probe and scan. However, until the studio itself makes an announcement, all fans can do is keep guessing and diving deep into as much information as they can gather. That will at least help pass the time.
