One of the biggest mysteries in GTA concerns GTA 5's notorious Mount Chiliad. The mountain is filled with strange clues and mysteries that have birthed many conspiracy theories since the game's 2013 launch. Despite all these theories about the mountain, there still has yet to be a straight answer as to what Mount Chiliad is all about. GTA 6 Needs Its Own Mount Chiliad Mystery

What makes Mount Chiliad so fascinating is the fact that answers regarding the mountain remain unclear over a decade later. Near the peak of Mount Chiliad, a map with strange symbols can be seen drawn on a wall. Scrawled symbols depicting a UFO, a jetpack, and an alien egg decorate the map, raising many questions. The only symbol that has been solved is the UFO.

After getting 100% completion in GTA 5, players can see a UFO at the top of Mount Chiliad. Regarding the jetpack and the alien egg, both still fail to have concrete answers. A GTA Online mission once involved an alien egg, but many players just see this as a fun reference and not a definitive answer.

GTA 6 Should Carry On The Tradition of Fun Mysteries

It's already clear that GTA 6 is set to break some traditions in the series, but when it comes to Easter eggs and mysteries, this will likely continue in some fun ways that have yet to be revealed.

GTA 5's embrace of cryptids, like Sasquatch and UFOs, could find their way into GTA 6 as well. With GTA 6's setting of Vice City being the franchise's take on Miami, there are plenty of cryptids rumored to be in Florida that Rockstar could take inspiration from, such as:

  • Skunk Ape: Florida's own version of the infamous Sasquatch. Featuring a Skunk Ape could be a fun way to tie both games together with this hairy bipedal cryptid.
  • Wampus Cat: A cat-like cryptid from Cherokee and Appalachian folklore, the Wampus Cat has also become a popular cryptid in Florida.
  • The Mahamba: Basically a giant bloodthirsty crocodile. The Mahamba is rumored to be twice the size of a regular croc and would be right at home on the outskirts of Vice City.

A Definitive and Fulfilling GTA Mystery

If GTA 6 includes conspiracy theory-laced Easter eggs and side missions, it would be interesting to see a storyline built around it that's more clear-cut. Having definitive answers at the end of the day would give many players closure instead of debating year after year.

On the other hand, Rockstar may enjoy sewing these seeds of discourse by leaving the mystery of Mount Chiliad unsolved and up to interpretation. Mount Chiliad has kept many players talking and debating since 2013, and there's something fun about that. Whatever mysteries make their way into GTA 6, it will be exciting to see what answers players are able to dig up.
