Just 48 hours after its release, Obsidian Entertainment's Grounded has reached an impressive milestone, reaching one million players in that time frame. It's clear that Grounded is already a huge success on Steam, and these new numbers only further prove that truth. It will be interesting to see where the game goes from here.

Much of this is probably due to the unique concept of Grounded, as players take control of a teenager trying to survive while shrunken down in their own backyard. Spiders and Ants are now massive enemies, and players will need to get creative in order to craft weapons and tools.

It seems as though players are still trying to figure out basic things like how to upgrade tools in Grounded, yet the support and praise the game has received in the last two days continues to mount. What's more, the game shows no signs of stopping any time soon, and will likely continue to grow.

In the video above, Game Director Adam Brennecke shares his excitement and thanks the community for the accomplishment. He makes a point to say that it was the community's support that enabled the game to thrive so much. The comments all seem to share Brennecke's exhilaration, with many saying that the success of the game is well earned and not the least bit surprising.

Watching the video, his excitement and joy are palpable, and others have also said that the feeling is contagious. Brennecke further elaborates that Grounded will be getting monthly updates, the first of which will arrive this month on August 27th.

This kind of post-launch support is becoming the standard for games, with other titles like Borderlands 3 seemingly pioneering it. Upon hearing this news, many started throwing out suggestions for things they'd like to see added to the game, including tamable ants, more emotes, better mouse and keyboard support for consoles, and more.

It's clear that the company is listening to fans, as Obsidian Entertainment added the Arachnophobia mode in response to the intimidating depiction of spiders. The company hasn't elaborated yet on what this free update will look like, but fans seem thrilled to know that the game will be supported for quite some time.

Not only is Grounded unique, but it also had a hilarious launch trailer, which featured a shout out to CyberPunk 2077. Many are enjoying the light tone of the game, relieved that it doesn't feel the need to take itself so seriously.

Grounded is available now on PC and Xbox One, and will release on Xbox Series X later.
