In many ways, the open-world sandbox of Grounded is like the ultimate kid's adventure playground as players get to choose what missions they go on, how to get there, what bases to build (the most epic tree house, anyone?), and even use ziplines to swing across the map in glee.

How To Make Ziplines

Building A Zipline Blueprint In Grounded

Players can either make freestanding Zipline Anchors that they can place on any suitable, unobstructed surface in the world and act as the start or finish of a zipline. In contrast, Zipline Wall Anchors are only usable as the end point of a zipline and attach to walls.

It's easiest to start with Zipline Anchors that only require 4 chunks of clay, 6 weed stems, and at least 1 strand of silk rope, whereas Zipline Wall Anchors require 1 bee stinger, 2 clay chunks, and at least 1 silk rope. Realistically, players need a lot more silk rope, and how much depends upon the length of their zipline, but each zipline anchor displays the total. If wanting to zoom across the Koi Pond, a zipline is likely to require anywhere between 20-30 strands of silk rope, so it's best to get as many Spinning Wheels turning as possible to speed up build times.

To start with, players must build 2 Zipline Anchors as these act as the start and finish. Place the Zipline Anchor blueprint at the starting point where the zipline begins, and head to where the zipline ends and place a 2nd Zipline Anchor blueprint. In Grounded, players must first discover and travel to their zipline endpoints to construct the zipline and cannot complete it only from one side. The start and end point of the ziplines needs to face the same direction, but the angle doesn't need to be overly accurate as the zipline rope itself connects automatically when connected. Once players have all the recipe ingredients, they can press Super-Build to fast-build all ingredients together.

How To Connect Ziplines

Connecting A Zipline In Grounded

To connect the Zipline Anchors, press X on an Xbox controller to automatically connect the zipline start and finish points together with silk rope. The zipline won't connect if there's no other Anchor to connect to. They may also indicate the connection is blocked if a zipline's path is obstructed by an object or landmark in the world, such as the Great Oak Tree. Although the UI looks a little complex, players only need to press the LB and RB buttons on an Xbox controller to select which Anchor to connect to, and helpfully it connects automatically.

How To Use Ziplines

Zipline In Grounded

Using a zipline in Grounded is straightforward and players only need to press X on an Xbox Controller to hop onto a zipline and start zooming down it automatically, their character screaming in joy. Players can hold on to the end, or they can click the right stick to let go and drop below, which is only recommended if falling into the watery depths of the Koi Pond for a safe landing.

Building a base around the top of the Great Oak Tree is an ideal location for placing zipline starting points for quick travel across the yard. This strategy gives players a full view of the yard and during zipline building, which they can zoom in on using their peepers. It's worth noting that players can only descend ziplines, so it's up to them where best to place them. Once players discover the joy of ziplines, there's no going back, and not even fast travel could be better.

Grounded is available to play on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S and is free to play on Xbox Game Pass.
