When Codemasters revealed GRID Legends earlier this year at EA Play, it set expectations for its next entry in the series high with the promises of new environments, new cars, story elements, and more. Today, Codemasters has revealed its first look at GRID Legends and what players can expect in this ambitious new title.

The 17-minute gameplay video features a mix of traditional and electric hypercars, the first reveal of Elimination Mode with the Renault Clios, and Multi-Class between a big rig and Volkswagen Fun Cup cars racing through European countryside villages and cityscape circuits. The beginning of the gameplay reveal features a field of Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro Concept Hypercars screaming through the winding Italian circuit of Strada Alpina.

The Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro Concept Hypercar is one of 40 cars in varying car classes that were revealed on the GRID Legends website after the gameplay video went live. Chris Groves from the game's Social and Community Team also revealed that GRID Legends will release on February 25, 2022. Pre-orders are now live and the pre-order bonuses feature early access to additional cars and faster car upgrade rewards among other incentives.

The gameplay shows off a variety of environments that players can expect to navigate through. London's penchant for consistently rainy weather offers a difficult challenge of balancing speed and car control, not only for the players but for the AI. GRID Legends Creative Director Chris Smith revealed in Electric Boost gameplay that AI will be just as prone to making mistakes and each AI driver will have differing "driver personalities" which will add unpredictable excitement to each race. The snowy, cobblestone streets of Moscow were used to show off the Elimination game mode with a field of Renault Clio Cups cars. The snow is a completely new environment type to the GRID series and the Moscow track represents the longest city track in the GRID franchise.

The last bit of the reveal video talks about the game's multiplayer aspect and the Race Creator where fans will have free reign to create whatever race they like and share it with the GRID Legends community. They can also pick from races made by other players for online and offline play or opt to randomize all of the game's various race rules into one race. With race fields expanded from 16 to 22 cars, races are bound to be both fun and chaotic.

Codemasters is cranking the excitement for GRID Legends as its first game mostly developed under the EA banner. With 40 cars already confirmed with more to follow in the lead-up to release and the promise of more post-launch, GRID Legends is set to be the most ambitious Codemasters racing game yet.

GRID Legends will release on February 25, 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
