In Grand Theft Auto V, players can travel between Los Santos and the rural Blaine County. Blaine County has a few real-life inspired places, such as Mount Chilliad or the Alamo Sea. Blaine County is also home to Trevor Phillips, giving players a reason to explore northern San Andreas. The rural area is also home to a lot of wilderness and wildlife, holding a few surprises.

A few of these surprises are easy to find, while others require some searching. By playing some of the newer updates, players are able to discover rare encounters that take place out in the desert.

10 Is Home To 9 Towns

A postcard for Paleto Bay

Blaine County is located in the upper part of San Andreas and is home to 9 different towns. This includes big towns, such as Paleto Bay and Sandy Shores, to smaller towns such as Stab City and Dignity Village. For the most part, missions and heists take place in the bigger towns.

Players are sure to find something they enjoy about at least one town in Blaine County. If not, there is always the wilderness to explore.

9 Plane Crash Found In Alamo Sea

After the mission Minor Turbulence, the cargo plane crashes into the Alamo Sea. What players might not know is that they can find the crash. By diving with SCUBA gear, players can loot the plane crash.

Instead of the usual money, players can loot different types of weapons. This includes the Rail Gun in the Enhanced version of the game. Other weapons include the rocket launcher, grenade launcher, and the combat MG.

8 Army Only Attacks Near Fort Zancudo

Unlike previous games in the series, the military does not attack the player in the HD Universe. This somewhat changes in Grand Theft Auto V, as the military will attack the player if they see them. This includes attacking with tanks and with jets.

By parachuting into Fort Zancudo, players can relive the 3D Universe and try to survive against waves of soldiers. It is nice that the HD Universe of Grand Theft Auto is becoming a little more serious, as it is very unlikely the military would be sent after a criminal.

7 California License Plate Can Be Found

Probably the most unexpected thing to find, players can find a license plate from California. Near the entrance of Stab City, players can find a destroyed truck with this license plate. Perhaps it implies that San Andreas and California both exist in this world.

Players will more than likely have to clear out Stab City first, as it is inhabited by The Lost. Or who knows, maybe California became San Andreas in some alternative universe.

6 Crashed UFO Found In Online

With the Gunrunning update in Grand Theft Auto Online, players are able to steal supplies through missions. A UFO can be found very rarely. The military and scientists are found around the UFO, guarding it against the player.

Players attack the UFO and steal any bit of weaponry from it. This will fill up the player's meter to make it full, meaning the player is ready to sell the weapons. Whoever gets those weapons, hopefully, they use them for a good purpose.

5 Alamo Sea's Real-Life Inspiration Is Referenced

On a billboard in Sandy Shores, there is a real estate agency called Salton Sea Real Estate. This is a reference to the Salton Sea in California, on which the Alamo Sea is based on.

It is interesting, as Grand Theft Auto V is one of the few games to make a lot of references to the real-life inspirations. It is a small detail, but any player who happens to find this sign might recognize an area they know in real life.

4 Unique Radio Show

Players might not notice it, but the talk show changes between Los Santos and Blaine County. Blaine County Radio will take the place of Blue Ark, being a more Conservative station. In Los Santos, West Coast Talk Radio is more liberal and acts as the area's talk show.

Blaine County's radio station will have a show hosted by Ron Jakowski, one of Trevor Phillip's friends. It is interesting, as it shows the different views of people in Los Santos and the people in Blaine County.

3 Launch Facility Found Under Mount Chilliad

In Grand Theft Auto Online, players can discover a missile silo and base underneath Mount Chilliad. It is found during the Doomsday Heist, appearing during the last mission. There is even still a missile located underneath the mountain.

Maybe someday, players can easily get into the launch facility. It is interesting, as players would most likely not expect a missile silo to be located under a mountain they go to and see all the time.

2 Ghost Can Be Found

By going to Mount Gordo, players can find the ghost of a lady. By going to the top of the mountain between 11 pm and 12 am, players can find the ghost. It is one of the more interesting Easter eggs in the game.

Getting too close will cause the ghost to disappear. As the story goes, an actor named Jock Cranley was married to the ghost. He pushed her off the mountain as a way to get rid of her.

1 Serial Killer Located In Blaine County

A serial killer named Merle Abrahams was located in Sandy Shores. He killed 8 joggers in 1999 and hid their bodies in water around Blaine County. Merle Abrahams became known as the Infinity Killers.

His house can still be found in Sandy Shores, which is full of hints to his victims and his killings. Merle was caught and sent to Bolingbroke Prison, where he died. Also interesting, players can find poems made by Merle, which are painted on rocks around Sandy Shores.
