After rumors circulated for months regarding a remaster of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy, Rockstar Games finally officially announced the Definitive Edition earlier this month. Featuring updates like improved graphics, frame rates, and updated controls, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Definitive Edition looks to bring the classic games to modern consoles while making them more palatable for contemporary audiences.

Earlier this week, Rockstar revealed the first real footage of the GTA TrilogyDefinitive Edition, showing off a few snippets of gameplay and finally giving gamers a glimpse of what the teased graphical updates would be. With added volumetric lighting, updated character models, and much-improved resolution, the Definitive Edition certainly cleans up the GTA Trilogy while keeping its iconic style mostly intact. The release of the new trailer and its displayed graphical changes had fans wondering what sort of PC components would be required to run the title, and now thanks to a listing on Rockstar Games’ store page, players have that info.

Reception to the Definitive Edition trailer and its required specifications on the GTA Trilogy Subreddit has been mixed. Some fans believe that the displayed graphical updates in the trailer don’t justify the requirements, while others feel that the demanding specs are adequate given the new lighting and reflection enhancements.

Being that Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Definitive Edition runs on Unreal Engine 4, these system requirements seem to be in line with other games that run on the technology. It can be hard to tell from a single trailer the true quality of the updated graphics, but there have certainly been big improvements in terms of lighting, draw distance, and reflections.

While many fans are understandably excited for GTA: The Trilogy Definitive Edition, others are waiting for Rockstar to finally make some sort of announcement regarding the much-anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6. Grand Theft Auto 5 is also seeing a re-release for next-gen consoles coming in 2022, so between that and the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition, fans will at least have something to help hold them over until some GTA 6 news finally manifests.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Definitive Edition launches digitally for the PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X on November 11. The physical edition is set to release on December 7th.
