Video game developer Rockstar Games reveals the intention to release a brand new motorcycle-themed update for Grand Theft Auto Online known as Bikers.

Over the course of the past year, Rockstar Games has kept Grand Theft Auto Online flush with content in order to give its fans fresh experiences in the open world title's realm of multiplayer mayhem, with the most recent patch being a massive update allowing players to create stunt race tracks, and take part in a PvP mode called Entourage. Now, however, it seems as if the studio is prepared to give players one of the game's most-requested features with a Bikers update that lets fans run their own Motorcycle Club.

One of the main reasons why this is such an important update is due to the fact that it shows how Rockstar Games listens to its fan base, because earlier this year, a slew of different motorcycle crews joined forces in Grand Theft Auto Online to petition the studio for more biker-driven content. Although the developer didn't provide an exact release date for the motorcycle-themed DLC, Rockstar has declared that it's "coming soon."

According to Rockstar Games' announcement on the matter, Grand Theft Auto Online's Bikers will "introduce new roles to play from fresh Prospects to club Presidents." Furthermore, the update is set to bring about new modes of both competitive and co-op gameplay, as well as new bikes and weapons catering to bikers. Plus, fans will be able to customize their characters with all-new styles, tattoos, and features.

Additionally, Rockstar went on to tease the availability of some "high-level, high-risk vehicle business ventures" that will eventually become available on Grand Theft Auto Online's map. New properties will also be up for sale for "seedy business ventures" including MC Clubhouses for crews of up to eight players, while a special custom Biker mechanic to upgrade players' rides will be added as well.

As many die-hard Grand Theft Auto Online fans are likely aware, although updates such as the forthcoming Biker DLC are free, the multiplayer aspect of the game is lucrative business for Rockstar. As it happens, thanks to microtransactions, the studio reached half a billion dollars in revenue with GTA 5's online mode about five months ago. Bearing that in mind, there's no telling how much money Rockstar has made since then, but considering the glut of materials that have been steadily injected into the title, like the recent Further Adventures in Finance and Felony, it's safe to speculate that profits have remained steady.

However, despite the fact that Rockstar Games is raking in the dough with Grand Theft Auto Online, the studio's parent company in Take-Two Interactive has declared that the online component of the franchise will rest when it seems necessary. Of course, with the Bikers DLC coming to the game soon, Rockstar's definitely ready to let the good times roll in GTA Online.

Grand Theft Auto Online is available through Grand Theft Auto 5 on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
