  • Although it's uncertain if the locations in GTA 6's Vice City will have changed, there's a chance that the bodies of the men in cement shoes could still be there, adding to the chilling atmosphere of the game.

Grand Theft Auto 6 could be primed to reintroduce players to a disturbing mystery originally found in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The series is no stranger to adding some unusual mysteries to the world, many of which were never solved either in or out of the game. It's even more eerie regarding mysteries that are out of the way, requiring players to head off to unexpected areas in order to find them, especially when they have no in-game purpose. It may be worth having Grand Theft Auto 6 revisit one particularly unnerving example from Vice City.

With the prominent rumor that GTA 6 will return to Vice City, there is a lot from the city's namesake game that could potentially be revisited. Tommy Vercetti's campaign across Vice City took him to several places and resulted in him leaving a lot of destruction in his wake. The various factions that he encountered could have been left in tatters or somehow survived to the present day. Any of the properties that he bought could still be operating in modern-day Vice City, although whether he would still own them is unknown. There's a chance that even Tommy himself could potentially still be somewhere in the city.

GTA: Vice City's Men in Cement Shoes Could Continue as a GTA 6 Mystery

fat man vice city

Vice City is home to one of the creepier unsolved mysteries in Grand Theft Auto. In a couple of locations by the water, specifically near Washington Beach and Leaf Links, there is a morbid surprise hidden for players to find. By looking out into the water in each location, they can see the corpse of a heavyset man underwater, with cement blocks encasing his feet. The men are not associated with any quests, nor can the player reach them due to Tommy's inability to swim. They seem to exist solely to remind players just how brutal Vice City's criminal underworld is.

No perpetrator is ever identified for these crimes, and considering how many criminal families are active in Vice City, the list of suspects is likely long. After all, Vice City's main villain Sonny Forelli was willing to have one of his own enforcers killed before the events of the game took place, so there's no telling what he'd be willing to do to anyone else. Considering how cruel Martinez from the prequel Vice City Stories was, he could have easily been behind it as well. Not knowing who was behind such a crime makes the men in the cement shoes even creepier.

The mystery of the men in the cement shoes could make a surprise comeback in GTA 6 in several ways. It could remain one of Grand Theft Auto's easter eggs by having the same bodies appear in the same place or perhaps having more present in Vice City's waters. Grand Theft Auto 6 could also stretch it further by having the bodies play a role in a side quest or even part of the main story. The protagonist could find out who's behind the bodies or have to prevent an ally from being disposed of in the same way, taking the easter egg full circle.

In Vice City, the men in the cement shoes were one of the more startling revelations that players could make. While it would make sense that those areas in GTA 6's version of Vice City would have been cleaned up in the decades since GTA: Vice City, it's not a certainty, especially with how messed up the GTA world can be. They could very sell still be there, even though they may be nothing but skeletons by now. The cement shoe men were an eerie sight in Vice City, and they could be the same again in Grand Theft Auto 6.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is in development.
