A new Grand Theft Auto 6 leak has potentially revealed a weapon that has been missing from the franchise for 14 years: the chainsaw. Fans have been waiting a decade for Grand Theft Auto 6, but Rockstar Games still hasn't revealed much about it in an official capacity. It's unclear when Rockstar will give GTA 6 its official reveal, but plenty of information about the project has leaked online in the meantime.

Unfortunately for Rockstar, Grand Theft Auto 6 was victim to a massive leak that revealed all kinds of details about the project. The leak confirmed previous reports that the new game would feature both male and female protagonists, and that it would be set in Vice City. It showed very early footage of GTA 6's open world action, and gave fans a general idea of what they can expect from the final product, whenever it might drop.

Now even more Grand Theft Auto 6 details have leaked online thanks to the LinkedIn profile of game developer Sayan Saha, a former Rockstar Games employee. Saha was part of the 2D UI team for various Grand Theft Auto projects at Rockstar Games, including Grand Theft Auto 6. He mentioned in a now-deleted post that he created over 500 2D assets for Grand Theft Auto 6, including "interior prop labels" for items like a fire extinguisher, chainsaw, electric board, boat motor, and car engine. While it's possible that the chainsaw can't actually be wielded by the player, this does confirm that chainsaws will be in Grand Theft Auto 6 in some capacity.

If chainsaws are truly back in Grand Theft Auto 6 as this leak suggests, it will be the first time that the weapon has been featured in a Grand Theft Auto game since 2009's Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. For one reason or another, Rockstar opted not to include chainsaws in Grand Theft Auto 4 or Grand Theft Auto 5. But with Grand Theft Auto 6 being set in Vice City, it makes sense for the chainsaw to make its big comeback with the new game.

The first Grand Theft Auto game to feature chainsaws as a potential weapon was Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, with it used in one of the game's most memorable missions as an homage to Scarface - one of the chief inspirations for the game. This makes it seem even more likely that chainsaws will be in Grand Theft Auto 6, but the fact that they were mentioned along with "interior prop labels" could suggest that they are just objects players can see while exploring the game world but can't actually be used as a weapon. Fans will have to wait for an official reveal from Rockstar Games to be sure about the weapons Grand Theft Auto 6 will have on offer.
