While other upcoming titles such as Hollow Knight: Silksong may not generate the same level of hype as GTA 6, there is still enough comparable attention on the title to warrant comparisons to the upcoming Rockstar release.
Crucially, both Grand Theft Auto 6 and Hollow Knight: Silksong were originally revealed years ago, with both titles also receiving very little in the way of tangible updates since then, especially considering that the massive leaks surrounding GTA 6 were anything but official. Just the official confirmation of the title's existence was enough to whip the sizable GTA fan base into a frenzy, although there have been little to no official updates on the game's development in over a year following this.
The most impactful development to occur regarding the game since the announcement came in September 2022, when Grand Theft Auto 6 fell victim to leaks that supposedly revealed key characters, settings, and very early gameplay footage of the title. These leaks have been characterized by many as some of the most damaging that any game studio has ever faced, only further adding to the probability that Rockstar will take even longer to release any official information relating to Grand Theft Auto 6 in the near future.
Hollow Knight: Silksong's Announcement History
Hollow Knight: Silksong is another title that is hotly anticipated thanks to the success of its predecessor, with the title being a sequel to 2017's Hollow Knight. Interestingly, Silksong was originally confirmed to be in development in February 2019, with a full four years having passed since this date. Like Grand Theft Auto 6, Silksong has had little to no updates since its original announcement, leading fans to wonder what the specifics of the game will be.
It is known that Silksong will maintain the tough but rewarding Metroidvania mechanics of its predecessor, but there is a clear demand from within its community for more in-depth updates on what the title has to offer. Considering that four years have passed since its announcement, the lack of updates for Hollow Knight:Silksong has predictably led many to worry that the game will be subject to delays.
Silksong has previously been slated for a release window of the first half of 2023, yet the lack of updates for the title likely indicates a much later actual release. While Grand Theft Auto 6 and Hollow Knight: SIlksong may seem like very different titles, the similar levels of hype within their respective communities combined with a worrying absence of tangible updates since their announcements mean that they have a lot more in common than what meets the eye.
