Grand Theft Auto 6's first trailer is out now, and it has confirmed that the game won't be available until 2025 at the earliest, but that doesn't mean 2024 can't be exciting for Grand Theft Auto fans. Grand Theft Auto fans have been waiting over a decade to play GTA 6, and it looks like they will have to wait at least a couple more years before they will have the chance to play the long-awaited open world game.

Grand Theft Auto 6 coming out in 2025 is going to have a massive impact on the gaming industry. It's highly likely that other publishers will shift their plans to avoid competing with the game, as it's basically guaranteed to be 2025's highest-selling game and will almost definitely launch to record-breaking sales. But even though all eyes are on GTA 6 and its 2025 release window, that doesn't mean Rockstar won't have a presence in 2024 as well.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Could Be Skipping PC at Launch

Rockstar hints that GTA 6 will be skipping PC at launch shortly after being forced to reveal the much-anticipated game earlier than planned.

2025 will be massive for the Grand Theft Auto franchise, but there's still hope that there will be some things for fans to look forward to in 2024 as well.

Grand Theft Auto 6's 2nd Trailer Will Almost Certainly Come Out in 2024

The first Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer has smashed records and generated significant hype for the game. Excitement for Grand Theft Auto 6 is through the roof since the trailer dropped, and many are excited to see more of the game. As it stands, it's highly unlikely that Rockstar will be releasing a new GTA 6 trailer at any point in the near future. In fact, it was recently pointed out that Rockstar's titles tend to have about a year between their first and second trailers, something which could very well happen with GTA 6 as well.

Assuming the second Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer follows the pattern established by Rockstar's past titles, fans shouldn't expect to see the next GTA 6 trailer until some time in late 2024. Regardless of when the next trailer comes out, though, it's almost guaranteed to drop at some point next year, so fans should keep their eyes peeled. A new GTA 6 trailer won't be as exciting as actually playing the game, but it should go a long way in keeping fans invested while they wait for the big release in 2025.

More GTA Online Updates Are On the Way

Rockstar may be focused on developing Grand Theft Auto 6 right now, but that doesn't mean it will be abandoning its GTA Online cash cow at any point in the near future. Grand Theft Auto Online updates will likely continue throughout 2024, meaning fans can look forward to new items, missions, and more to help keep them occupied while they wait for new info on GTA 6. And since Grand Theft Auto Online actually teased the GTA 6 trailer date ahead of time, it's entirely possible that more cryptic teases for the new game will be added to GTA Online, giving fans even more incentive to play the game.

Rumored Grand Theft Auto 4 Re-Release Could Help Fill the Gap

To be perfectly clear, a Grand Theft Auto 4 remaster has not been announced at the time of this writing. However, there is some evidence to suggest that such a project exists and could be releasing by March 2024. Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two previously indicated that it had two re-releases on deck to launch by March 2024. One of those games was seemingly the original Red Dead Redemption, and so it stands to reason that the other could very well be Grand Theft Auto 4. Of course, it could be a completely different project entirely unrelated to the Grand Theft Auto franchise, so fans should keep that in mind, but this wouldn't be the first time that there have been rumblings about a GTA 4 re-release or remaster.

It was previously reported that Rockstar had shelved plans to re-release Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto 4 following the GTA Trilogy's widely negative reception. But Red Dead Redemption has released since then, suggesting there could be hope for Grand Theft Auto 4 to make a comeback as well. If Rockstar does decide to re-release Grand Theft Auto 4, it will be interesting to see if the game gets the proper remaster treatment or if it is a basic port like RDR was.

San Andreas VR Game Could Release or Reveal New Info

Grand Theft Auto 6 isn't the only GTA game that has been officially announced. All the way back in 2021, a Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas virtual reality game was announced for Meta's Quest headsets. There have been no updates on the project since then, but with it having already been two years since its announcement, one has to imagine that it's nearing the end of development. The alternative would be that San Andreas VR has been canceled, but if so, that has not been officially announced just yet. If the game does exist, a 2024 release window seems reasonable considering when it was announced, so hopefully fans get an update on the project sooner rather than later.
