Granblue Fantasy Versus takes a lot of inspiration from its original mobile game in terms of gameplay, story, and style. One of the aspects of the mobile game that make it stand out among its peers is its long story with deep character arcs and side missions. The amount of side content in Granblue Fantasy allows players to play for hours without running out of things to do.
The story mode of the fighting game has taken some of the funniest and most character driven moments, and put them into the story mode. This makes for light-hearted story quests that run parallel to the main quests, and help players learn about the characters and new DLC.

Who Is Siero?

Siero's shop in GBVS
Siero is a character players meet early on in the game who runs the shop in RPG mode and offers intelligence that helps move the story forward. She has the appearance of a young girl and the humor of a child, but her wisdom seems unmatched by anyone in the party. Not only is her wisdom limitless, she seems to appear wherever she's needed instantly, implying she can travel across the sky faster than anyone.
Fans have joked about this aspect of Granblue and Versus takes it to an even higher level by straight up having Siero teleport at times. It's unclear what her origins are, who she really is, or what she's capable, but players are lucky she's on their side.

Beelzebub

Beelzebub is the final boss of the RPG mode in Granblue Fantasy Versus . Since this is before any DLC quests, and it's a normal mode quest, the battle isn't too difficult, and it unlocks Beelzebub for players instead of having to pay for him as DLC. To beat him, there're actually a bunch of easy tips and tricks to make the fight seme like it didn't even happen.
Making a weapon grid manually by upgrading and arranging weapons goes a long way when compared to letting the game do it automatically. Skills don't matter for this fight, just get raw attack power up. Also, players can set the computer to complete the fight for them, eliminating any stress for the fight.

Colors 5-8

Characters with Guilty Gear Colors in Granblue Versus
The colors for characters in Granblue Fantasy Versus are another aspect of the game that seems to be hidden behind a pay wall, but they can actually be accessed in RPG mode as well. To unlock them, complete RPG mode by beating Beelzebub, and go to Seiro's shop. Early in the game, she sells equipment and weapon skins, but her inventory expands when the game is beaten.
The downside to purchasing colors in the shop is that they can get expensive if players intend to buy all colors for every character. Just getting these 4 colors for characters in the base game costs 52,800 rupies, which isn't nothing. Over the course of the game, selling equipment, and doing side missions, the money will add up, and there aren't many other things worth buying in the shop after beating the story.

Katalina's Return

Katalina's first scenes in GBVS
In the beginning of Granblue Fantasy Versus, Katalina is working with the empire to capture Lyria from the party. The team acts confused because they can't figure out why she would do that even though she's been a member of the Empire for as long as she can remember. This point also confused fans who haven't played the mobile game because Versus throws players in as if they have an idea of who the characters are.
This mission is almost like a "what if" scenario from the mobile game. It has players imagine what if Katalina didn't change her mind about how the Empire was treating Lyria and stayed loyal to them. What she actually does is joins Gran's crew and helps him save Lyria from harsh treatment and experiments the Empire wanted to perform on her.

Valtz Duchy

The second island visited in the story mode of Granblue Fantasy Versus makes reference to a major story line in the mobile game, that has to do with Io. The game mentions that it's her home island and that the ruler of it is her adopted father but there's a lot more to it than that.
The Primal Beast who causes chaos on the island is the Iron Giant who was controlled by rage in the mobile game. The leader of the island became engulfed in the idea of doing his ancestor's proud and taking back what he thought the empire stole from him. In a twist of events, he now helps the knights take back the island by defeating the Iron Giant, a complete turn around from the events of the mobile game.

Lady Katapillar

In Versus, Lady Katapillar is a real weapon made possible by the disruptions in space-time. Normally, this weapon wouldn't be able to exist, especially not in the droves it does in the game. They're seen terrorizing Auguste and acting completely independently of Lowain.
Lady Katapillar is actually a figment of Lowain's imagination that comes to life when Vira casts a curse on Katalina, turning her into a weapon of destruction. This could be a good indication of Vira's inclusion in Granblue Fantasy Versus down the line as well. Versus allows for the universe to act in ways it never could in the mobile game, while offering little pieces of lore for fans of the series like this.

Lyria's Power

Gran protecting Lyria in GBVS
Lyria is a young girl who starts as a member of the party in Granblue Fantasy Versus. She is the key to the story of the original game with mysterious powers. Her powers allow her to usually control Primal Beasts, but the events of versus change this around somewhat. The beasts in Versus are controlled by another force, that renders her abilities useless until the beasts are defeated.
This ability of hers is mentioned a few times in the game but it isn't really explained to players why she can't command the beasts when they're right in front of her like usual. Lyria's powers are mysterious, and Granblue Fantasy Versus could do a better job explaining them since the mobile game isn't easily available in the United States.

Head Over Heels For Robots

In Soriz's second story quest, he lurks around the beaches of Auguste with a soldier, looking for women to peep on. The two men find a lone Lady Katapillar unit by itself looking for love and reject her, hurting her feelings in the process. Ladiva then approaches and lectures the two men on love and that they need to respect a woman's feelings, even if she's an imaginary robot.
This wild scenario only gets crazier when the soldier confesses his love to the robot, and they begin to date. Out of all the side story scenarios, this one is easiest to miss since Soriz is a weaker character who also doesn't get much from completing his second quest.

Classic Character Designs

LAncelot and Percival stand back to back in GBVS
Story mode is also home to certain designs that didn't exactly make it into the American version of the game by default. These costumes are the original costumes for Metera and Zeta that were slightly censored for the American release. To unlock these costumes, players just have to complete the story mode.
After completing story mode, go to system settings and toggle the "character design" menu option. Doing so will allow players to change the outfits for Zeta, Metera, and possibly DLC characters in the future. The only real difference between these outfits and the default is that the classic outfits are a bit more revealing.

Special Weapon Skins

Every character has a special weapon skin that resembles Vyrn that can be obtained in story mode. The conditions for each character vary and require different levels of progress through the game, but they all have something to do with the specific character in question.
A good example of this is that for Narmaya, players have to pause the RPG mode for 60 seconds straight. This is a reference to the fact that she's always asleep when meditating, so players put the game to sleep to unlock her skin. Another example is for Ladiva to taunt 3 times during battle, since she's a wrestler.
